Here is my second assignment for Computer Illustration. This time we picked from several works of fiction. Since I’m a big fan of the movies, I picked The Lord of the Rings as my subject and focused on the journey aspect. Again, this was fun and challenging because I struggled with the color scheme on this one. I’ve included some process shots because I like to see behind-the-scenes images from other artists. More to come…
OKAY BUT, CONSIDER: Steve Rogers drawing Lord of the Rings fanart.
Steve Rogers reading Lord of the Rings though
Steve Rogers reading the lines “all we have to decide is what to do with the
time that is given to us” and “even the smallest person can change the
course of the future”
Steve Rogers getting to the part in Two Towers where Frodo “dies” and Sam is holding him and “don’t go where I can’t follow” and then the cliffhanger when Sam finds out he’s alive but taken by orcs and he can’t do anything about it
Steve Rogers reading about Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli on an endless, tireless chase to save their friends
Steve Rogers dealing with the Dead Marshes and the descriptions of Mordor, with Saruman’s war machines and Sauron’s corruption of innocent people
Steve Rogers when Frodo comes back to the Shire and finds that he no longer belongs there, that he saved it, but not for himself, that some wounds will never truly heal
Steve Rogers reading about Bilbo getting old and losing his memory and having to be reminded of everything that Frodo has done
Steve Rogers the emotional mess because he got to the Gray Havens chapter
so we have a conversational safeword in my group of friends and it’s great, idk why more people don’t do this. whenever someone wants a subject to be dropped immediately no questions asked we just say “spleen” and we stop immediately and it’s a really good way to avoid crossing the line between teasing friends and genuinely upsetting them by accident, or stopping debates from turning into actual arguments
