Last night I went to a pre-release event for the new Magic the Gathering set at my local game store. In my first match-up, against a nice lady who took her name from a Tamora Pierce novel, she asked what my name was again. “Seanan,” I said. “SHAWN-in.”

“Oh, like Seanan McGuire? The author?”

“Very much like that, since that’s me.”

Much shouting and laughing followed, especially because she didn’t know me from reading my books–she knew me from Tumblr.

I love that. It also took me an embarrassingly long time to realize you were an author. Pretty sure I followed you because of a pony post.

I make publicists cry!

(snicker) It’s good for them. Builds character. 😏

One day, perhaps against my will, I will find out whether Seanan Maguire and Ursula Vernon are the same person.

We’re not the same person. But we ARE married.
