i agree with everything here, and let me add more if i may.

i’ve agreed with every decision mary has made thus far (minus when she asked richard to bring selah back basically as a leash for anna, i thought that was passive aggressive BUT that’s really how women wage war, especially in those times when women had little to no voice). mary makes the best of the terrible situation she’s in. she’s grateful for thomas, her one light in this awkward marriage and years of unhappiness. and then she faces her husband’s childhood friend (suspected lover and, unbeknownst to her, previous fiancee) and she assures mary she’s not sleeping with him. then mary gets evidence that her husband is cheating, but what can she do. then she finds out her husband is a spy. which will not only be his head but her head and more importantly her son’s head if he gets caught (and didn’t even bloody tell her about it). so she has every right to be angry. and on top of all that her husband shoots a redcoat in their very house. so she’s forced to clean up her husband’s mess as she always has.

anna is not in the happiest marriage either. she makes the best even though she has to see the love of her life basically everyday in her tavern. and even though she’s a patriot she has to house these redcoats in her own home. then not only is her husband taken away for a bullshit charge, but she thinks he died. so she turns to the one man she’s always loved (NOW i really hate that she did this to mary, especially after she assured her she wouldn’t, but i also understand her rash decisions that night). they get back to town and she’s the happiest she’s been in a long time, after these long years of war. and then she finds out her husband is alive, like seeing a ghost. but she just can’t go with him. she’s impulsive again and goes with her heart over her head (that she seems to be doing as of late).

i haven’t agreed with every decision they’ve made but i understand where they’re coming from and i think that’s very important when you’re watching a show or movie or anything. we all hate simcoe and know he’s made stupid decisions, but if you look at his way of thinking his actions make sense - again i’m not saying i agree with them but i understand them.

(ALSO the reason i don’t like the abe/anna relationship is because i feel like it’s a tool for the writers to add drama. now if we get a bigger picture view next season, like if we find out that their relationship had a bigger impact (and i can’t think right now of what it can be) then i will be more than okay with it. but i’m not okay with it right now. i’m not okay with writers creating unnecessary storylines that go nowhere and serve no purpose other than to take up time and add drama)
