Kiradax! This is not a ship I think about a lot, but I do like it! I think they def have chemistry in the early seasons. That part in s2 when they go to Bajor and fly that shuttle thing XD They are very cute together. Jadzia is the quintessential extrovert who adopts introverts like puppies. And Kira desperately needs to be adopted. She might fight it but she wants it! If she could let herself admit it.

I’m gonna say a thing here that might be controversial. Maybe not tho like this is not the part of the fandom I hang out in so. But anyway. Kira and Worf are a lot alike. They both had trauma in childhood (granted Kira’s was more profound). They both lean heavily on religion and yet often find themselves chaffing against it. They are traditionalists except their culture is not always traditional. They are both discovering themselves in their adulthood due to being unable to do that as children. They value violence as a tool, a means to an end. They do not enjoy it. They both would argue they do enjoy it, but that’s the trauma, okay.

And I very much ship Jadzia and Worf so why not Jadzia and Kira???

And if you want my opinion on Kira and Ezri…. It would at least have been better than Jezri. Why?? Because it would come from mutual appreciation and respect and not some weird latent attraction to Jadzia. Also it is better bc Ezri is clearly a they/them lesbian like????? Wake up, people.

Kelas and Elim. My beloveds. My absolute hearts.

I love them together. I think they balance well. Their story is so heart-wrenching and beautiful! Kelas is literally like the sweetest person but also the sort of kind that is strong and forged through fire. They are kind on purpose. And they see the best in Elim. They believe in Elim when he doesn’t believe in himself 😭😭 And you know I think Elim gives Kelas hope. Elim IS Kelas’ Cardassia. Bloody and painful but beautiful and deeply good, able to change, to grow, to transform and learn from past sins. Elim decides every day to turn his back on his upbringing and to do the best for Cardassia and Kelas loves him for it. They both hold that deep love for Cardassia and her people. In Crimson Shadow, Elim calls Kelas his “conscience”. They really are a rock that Elim leans on and learns from. Elim is shamelessly attracted to kindness and competence and Kelas has both in spades.

Elim gives Kelas hope and love and a sanctuary, I think, in a way. Someone to come home to, someone to love, actively, on purpose. And someone to give them love in return, to remind them they are precious, and there is love and pleasure in the world.

Kelas gives Elim steadiness. A foundation. A sounding board. Someone he trusts to pull back on the reigns. Elim does not always trust himself, but he trusts Kelas. Kelas is kind and forgiving. Kelas is a good, a goal, to strive for. Kelas loves and forgives and accepts. Kelas also pushes back. They call Elim out and don’t let him lie. They have infinite patience but also will not pull punches. It is beautiful to see and it is so good for Elim to have that. He needs that.

The first way Kelas knew Elim was in the worst way. Elim could never truly lie to them because they saw underneath everything. And still they fell in love. Still they gave Elim a chance! A second chance as he had been offered so few times before.

Their love is just so goddam beautiful, okay?? Please read ASIT and Crimson Shadow. I still need to read Enigma Tales.

Seagulls count as a topic!!

Fun fact: there is no bird officially named “seagull” so a lot of birders will be like “That’s not a real bird. Use the real name.” But I try not to be a snotty pedant. Plus I can’t id all the gulls so?? I don’t expect other people to do it. The most common gull in North America is the ring-billed gull, so if you want to be pedantic, now you can! XD

I like them! Listen, I know they are loud and dirty and occasionally aggressive about food. But really. They are doing the best they can to survive in our urban environment, just like every other animal that didn’t ask for us to build cities with dumpsters and ornamental ponds and fast food parking lots. Bear them no ill will, for they are our victims, not our enemies.

Once, my ex and I were in a parking lot eating our Rally’s, and a gull tried to fly in the window of our car. XD We closed the windows, but it stood on the closed sunroof the whole time we were eating. And that is how I have gotten a close view of the underside of a ring-billed gull.

Ah is that so? I feel like I’m here all the time, so that’s funny. Course idk what time zone you’re in. I am here at particular times on work days at least. Days off can be fuzzier, I think.

Assuming this is for characters I’m an expert in. I feel honored! Idk if I would say I’m an expert in Julian but I feel fairly good about the other two. Altho I still haven’t read Enigma Tales which might be a requirement for one to claim to be a Parmak expert XD

“You look far away,” Miles says.

“I guess I’m just thinking.”

“Brooding, more like.”

Julian sighs.

“Look,” Miles says. “We all survived. The war is over. We can relax now.”

“And we all just return to our lives.”

“Yes, we do, because that’s what we were fighting for.”

“But life here won’t be the same.”

“Well,” Miles pauses to take a drink. “It never is after a war. But you pick up the pieces and you build something new.”

Oh gosh. How do I choose?? I have lovely friends who write great fic and I have authors who have impressed me and I cannot choose XD Every fic writer in this fandom is a gift.
