“To all my fellow white women saying they will boycott celebrating the 4th this year because “freedom doesn’t apply to everyone in this country,” you really need to take a moment to ask yourself why you were celebrating it before, because uh…. that’s not a new development.
To be clear, I’m not disagreeing with boycotting. (I haven’t celebrated the 4th in years.) The issue is treating the fall of Roe like it’s the first time a group of people were second class citizens in this country. It’s just the first time YOU were part of the out group.”
on purpose!!! love people on purpose!!! find someone wonderful and love them and tell them it wasn’t an accident, you had a choice, you saw who they were and realized how lovely it would be to love them, and it is!!! i made a good decision! i love you on purpose!!!
I love the way Ed rests his head against Stede’s hand
young nonbinary people listen to me. you do not have to tell people your agab. you do not have to tell people if you are tme or tma. do not feel like you have to tell people if you are afab or amab; nobody has the right to know. nobody! not even other trans people, not even people who are your friends! that is your body and you do not have to tell anybody how you were assigned at birth. nobody needs to know what “type” of nonbinary person you are. & if someone gets pissy at your for not revealing extremely personal information, block that asshole.
i think garak definitely sleeps with all his body weight on top of bashir because hes a lizard & likes the warmth. julian LOVES this because hes autistic & the pressure helps him sleep
when people try to make their (shallow at best) feminism sound inclusive to nonbinary people but accidentally let slip their prejudices in the process. “men aren’t pretty, women and nonbinary people are pretty.” “fuck men, I only like women and nonbinary people.” and ofc the classic “safe space for women and nonbinary people, no men allowed.” like damn that’s crazy. can’t wait until you find out about nonbinary men too though 😑. or, can’t wait until you find out about masculine nonbinary people in general tbh, cause I know they’re not who u have in mind with these statements. by choice and not there’s nonbinary people out there who look and present exactly how u imagine binary men do, of all ages, and maybe you need to wrap your cute little head around that before even attempting to speak on “nonbinary rights” or whatever.
like, if ur including 18 yr old she/they demigirls who don’t want to go on T but always wear pronoun pins in your activism, that’s great. but if you want to speak on nonbinary people as a whole group, you’re also speaking on 30-something year old he/him men who’re already balding, who have full beards, who are stealth as cis men (if not cishet men) in their workplaces, who aren’t twink-y and who might not own a single piece of make-up, and who may or may not be physically transitioning. And when they say they’re nonbinary they’re just as nonbinary as the first example I gave.
this is why “men vs non-men” doesn’t work. some people are both. some people aren’t both, but by your prejudice standards might cross the line. ffs some nonbinary people are a woman and ALSO a man. there is no secondary binary you can salvage out of this. and if you don’t reframe your nonbinary activism to include these people and support these people too, you are a bad activist and frankly being transphobic – not only towards masculine nonbinary people, but also towards the feminine/androgynous nonbinary people who you’re not so subtly trying to simplify to “woman-lite”.
Dr. Julian Bashir being genetically enhanced was a very stupid subplot altogether
since we see him being a bit of a himbo in the beginning, but the story could have been redeemed if they had followed through with him curing the Jem’Hadar of their addiction to ketracel white. His motivation to do that could have been not just his compassion as a doctor but empathy for them because they were genetically engineered against their will like he was.
where the hell do yall live that growing your own food is possible for everyone and therefore it’s okay to be incredibly condescending about people not already growing their own food
or like ‘here’s something that YOU, PERSONALLY, can do to help the planet’ *describes something that requires owning land*
trying to figure out how to explain to people that “sometimes people who otherwise firmly identify as one identity can have sex with or otherwise involve themselves with someone of the gender they’re not attracted to because it’s fun or because they’re trying shit out and it doesn’t really necessarily mean anything” doesn’t mean “YOU must do that”
the statement “gay men/women can and sometimes do have sex with women/men not because they’re secretly attracted to women/men but because there’s an infinite amount of reasons for why someone isn’t a gold star gay” is not the same as asking for YOU to just “give women/men a try” like people exist that are not you. that’s the whole point. you’re not the main character of the universe and understanding that people exist as complex creatures with internal motivations and identities is actually important and reacting to literally any statement that conflicts with your experiences by screaming and crying about not relating is just extremely embarrassing
there’s a lesbian on tiktok who made a 10 second joke video about hooking up with a guy to make sure she’s not attracted to men and the response to it has been fucking insane like people are telling her she’s the reason straight men assault lesbians, that she’s not actually a lesbian, that she’s biphobic for not just calling herself bi… she had sex with a guy and came out of it more firm in her knowledge that she DOESNT like men but No just the act of willingly having sex w one is enough to automatically demote her into some kind of a homophobic traitor LARPing as a lesbian. this is the reason people talk about these experiences as things that happen. because when a real person talks about those experiences you all harass them into deleting their social media accounts over it
like i know several gay men who had sex with women just to see what it was like. they’re still gay. they have no interest in dating women, they aren’t sexually attracted to them. they, by existing, are not forcing YOU to do that. they are literally out there just living their lives as gay people and yet people will victimize themselves over some complete strangers having sex that they don’t want them to have. literally who careeeeeeessssss
Sisko is awesome. He’s a quiet, one man 24th Century equal access revolution. He’s the Captain who:
- Wrote a letter of recommendation to allow the first (and only) Ferengi to join Starfleet
- Had the first (and only) Klingon in Starfleet as his Commander. AT THE TIME that it seemed very likely the Federation and the Klingons were about to go to war.
- Pulled strings to keep the first (and only) openly Augmented Officer in Starfleet from losing his commission and kept him on as his Doctor even though he was illegal. ALL WHILE never once mentioning that Bashir had lied to him for five years.
- Had the only Changeling in the quadrant as his Chief of Security. AT THE SAME TIME as there was a mass-panic about Changelings and the Federation were at war with them. AND never once suggested Odo try and become more humanoid…
Half of his senior staff are exceptions. He supports them quietly and, presumably, behind the scenes defends their right to be there, mostly without them knowing it. Sisko rocks.
