if tumblr users found out about the simple concept of “different people have different boundaries about media and that’s normal” their brains would explode
things that make you uncomfortable don’t necessarily make other people uncomfortable and vice versa. also things don’t have to be objectively morally wrong to make you uncomfortable and in fact thinking you HAVE to always be morally justified about not liking something is not healthy.
I love how, despite the best attempts of the writers to give Garak a female love interest (Rick Bman said no homo, guys), it is abundantly clear that he harbors no romantic feelings for Ziyal, and is actually a little uncomfortable because of her crush on him, but doesn’t want to hurt her feelings with outright rejection, considering all she’s been through. Even when she kisses him good-bye during Call to Arms, it’s very much her taking the action and him just freezing up.
I think he likes Ziyal quite a lot, but it comes off in a more avuncular way than romantic. She’s a beautiful young lady, funny and smart, and the only other Cardassian on the station. If she were older or he were younger, maybe he would have courted her seriously. As it is, he cares for her but pretty clearly is not attracted to her sexually or romantically.

first they phased out the 22 episode season then they phased out the 13 episode season and now they’re phasing out the 10 episode season like can you guys go watch fucking movies or something and stop trying to “tighten” television
We need to go back to more episodes because shows can’t be action or drama all the time, there needs to be breathing room for both the audience and the characters. There need to be good filler episodes where the characters get to just have fun and develop outside of the main story. Side quests and downtime are important to storytelling. We need to see the characters be regular people with regular problems in between the big stuff.
sure, fine, your characters kissed, whatever. have they rested their foreheads together yet
absolutely nothing should be sold for a profit if its absence can kill you.
water shouldn’t be sold for a profit.
food shouldn’t be sold for a profit.
healthcare shouldn’t be sold for a profit.
any system where people can die because they’re unable to access these resources needs to be dismantled.
y’know as much as self-sacrifice gets made out to be super noble and shit in a lot of fiction, i am. very much more in favor of the message “you can live. you can want to live. it is a good thing to want to live, and it is a good thing that you are alive. you don’t have to feel guilty for being alive.”
idk it’s what i really needed to hear when shit got bad and honestly it’s what i still need to hear sometimes and it’s what i want the people i care about to believe about themselves.
as society we need men wearing cropped tops on TV/Movies, it wouldn’t fix everything but it would make a lot of shit better, and if they’re whores it would be appreciated
self discipline is so hard like. i know the sucker who’s in charge…a pushover who hates authority and loves hedonism
Tbh it gets a little exhausting seeing so much emphasis on “Raise the minimum wage! Pay workers for their labour!” and then dead silence about unemployed people and people who are unable to work and disabled people. We deserve a liveable income too.
petition to move from “nobody working full-time should be unable to survive!” to “nobody should be dependent on the ability to spend 40+ hours a week at their job to survive”
Nobody AT ALL should live in poverty.
telling gay men that they are allowed to love each other freely, openly, and passionately will always be more important than reassuring insecure straight men that they can hug their bestie without being gay
the solution to men withholding love and affection from each other out of fear of being perceived as gay is to remove the stigma around being perceived as gay, not to “no homo” male affection
