like if a man is involved in/supportive of feminism or queer activism, but he’s not gender nonconforming enough for you, you acting like he’s dodging the gender-war draft. and if he is gender nonconforming but he’s not political enough for you, you act like his self-expression is now ~hollow~ and ~meaningless~ and possibly even treacherous.
gnc men were not put on earth to be your human shield or your martyr. they are not invulnerable just by virtue of being men. they are the targets of a huge amount of violence. why are you always demanding they put themselves in harm’s way for you and never talking about how you can make them safer?

it’s so funny how immune i am to hustle culture. people will talk about taking breaks for their mental health and how difficult it was for them to do what was right for them and i’m like. it’s absolutely unreal how quickly i’ll dump something i don’t want to do anymore.

man no one told me Discovery would be absolutely fucked tho. the wild amount of gore and torture and medical trauma I’ve had to watch so far is unprecedented. I haven’t seen anyone talking about this aspect of the show and it completely blindsided me. I have so many thoughts about this show overall and I don’t really know how to express them yet, but I feel like someone should be saying like… look out, this is pretty hard to watch in a lot of places… basically every episode. Not in a DS9 “horrors of war” kind of way, but in a very modern, overly sensational, game-of-thrones-esque kind of way that is very graphic. I don’t appreciate it and I don’t think it was necessary to tell this story.
Not just Discovery. Star Trek Picard is guilty of the same in the Borg torture scene. I really, really hope that in the spirit of TOS they will do without in Strange New Worlds.
