you know, i feel like there would be a whole lot less delta variant if the usa wasn’t so hellbent on defending intellectual property (paid for by citizens of the world) over the lives of said citizens of the world yknow

like hmm i just think this pandemic would be less bad if everyone who wanted to produce and distribute these vaccines was allowed to

🚶

instead it is strangely constantly reframed around things you personally can do rather than very large government decisions that are killing very large populations and creating breeding grounds for new disease variants

like should we all be wearing masks still: yes

has the us government among others blundered this fact: also yes

is mask wearing the crux of the global pandemic, which yes still impacts the usa: no

I just think it is awfully convenient all the major news sources keep giving the usa a pass for how theyve gatekept access to vaccine production

constantly praising the usa for “giving” countries like india vaccine doses instead of fucking allowing them to mass produce as much as they wanted from the beginning.

and then always implying how grateful us americans should be for the gratuitous amounts of vaccines our country has bought up corning the market in our favor

pretty disgusting.

I want to write a deeper analysis of this but everytime I start I don’t even know where to begin because it just breaks my heart. I mean people in the west, do you even understand what your state is doing to the rest of the world?

The reason they try to manufacture consent through media everytime they commit a heinous act is because they know the power still lies with the masses. You given them consent by buying into their propaganda and your inaction. You can take it back.

On the August 20th, 1998, the US military bombed al-Shifa medical plant in Khartoum, the largest pharmaceutical plant ini Sudan, which had been built only a little over a year prior. The US claimed that there were traces of a nerve-gas precursor in soil samples taken near the plant. The specific precursor also has pharmaceutical uses and is perfectly legal to produce. The timing of the bombing was about one week after the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke. Take from that what you will.

EVERY WORD HERE  👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼 IS TRUE. YOU ARE THAT FROG.

I too have no space to worry about USA, already very worried about Poland and Ecuador, thank goodness Canada is still somehow holding up, but I’m horrified how far you let it go. FIX IT NOW or you’ll be sorry  - truer words were never spoken.

Beware of requests for compromise when you are asking for justice and the other side is asking for consent to continue.

Honestly as much as I love the enthusiasm people are showing to beat up Nazis I can’t help but be irked at how people are perpetuating the historical fiction that America was the most vehement opponent of Nazism.

America only opposed the Nazis because Britain did. Britain only did because they viewed national boundaries as of divine import. Churchill liked Hitler until he started invading other countries. Pro-Nazi rallies were held across this nation, including at Madison Square Garden. Hitler directly praised American efforts at state-sponsored eugenics and treatment of Native Americans.

Stop playing Captain America. It really is a fluke of history that the United States sided against the Nazis. This election is not in defiance of American political culture, it is a fulfillment of it.

Same goes for Canada, who had the highest percapita NSDAP membership after Germany until we were literally at war with them and it was illegal.

See, I didn’t know that either.

Erasing history is how you ensure its repetition.

The United States turned back a boat full of Jews fleeing Europe. Many of the people on the boat ended up in camps and died. FDR refused to bomb the train tracks to Auschewitz. The United States likes to pretend that they were the good guys in that war and they l were fighting the Nazis because they valued the dignity of the lives the Nazis were murdering but that’s just not true. Saving the Jews and Rromanis was just a PR stunt.

Canada had a “none is too many” policy re: Jewish refugees in 1939. [those are news sources; here’s an academic source on ‘none is too many’]
