Reading Crimson Shadow and Garak keeps writing to Julian but so far, after three chapters, Julian has yet to write back afaik. And it’s so sad to me? It makes me feel like Garak’s character has a necessary component of longing. Now he is home, on a partially healed although still very much hurting Cardassia, but still *home*, yet even with Kelas at his side, he longs for Julian. He reaches out over and over. Asks him to come visit. In ten+ years, Julian has never visited?! It just. It pulls at my heart. It hurts to think he finally got the thing he wanted in all his years of exile only to lose another necessary component of his contentedness. If he ever got everything he wanted, would he cease to be Elim Garak?

also to make up for my depressing ask here is a fun ask: what is your favorite kelas parmak Fact?

Lol I just wrote a whole Kelas hc post, but I think one of my favorite facts might be that during a dinner with Garak, Jean-luc Picard, and Beverley Crusher, Kelas, watching Garak out of the corner of their eye, called Meditations on a Crimson Shadow, “A repulsive book, a fantasy of eternal and permanent Cardassian conquest” which Garak considered to be quite unfair.

(quote from The Fall: The Crimson Shadow by Una McCormack)

Look what I finally finished!! This has been a wip since I finished Crimson Shadow and it finally decided to get finished tonight.

Relationship: Elim Garak/Kelas Parmak

Rating: E (tho it’s maybe only a hard M tbh?)

Summary: When they are finally alone after being reunited, Garak and Kelas reconnect through sex, love, and forgiveness.

Mild Spoilers for Crimson Shadow, I guess. This is unbetaed, bc I couldn’t wait XD

My drawing based on a quote from the Crimson Shadow.

“Elim Garak is a wake too, but one might hope that a man such as Elim Garak does not sleep easily. Indeed, one might consider the punishment light, when weighed against the crimes he has committed: murder, torture, aiding and abetting tyrants. These deeds are, of course, all in the past - but still one might consider it suitable penance that tonight Elim Garak can not sleep for fear that murderers and torturers who aid and abet tyrants are coming ever closer to taking control of his beloved home.”

Well, I finished Crimson Shadow. The ending was satisfying in a way I was not expecting when I realized I only had a handful of pages left. It tied itself up nicely. I am, of course, in pain, because this book is excellent at pain. But it’s a good pain. I definitely recc this to anyone who has read ASIT and wants more!! Obv this wasn’t written by Andy, but Una McCormack does a beautiful job. I am considering finding more of her books, because if they are anything like this! They will be delicious.
