sitronsangthoughts:

I’ve seen a fair amount of fat liberation activists explain that they have always been fat, they’re not about to stop, and that’s natural and beautiful and fine. That’s an incredibly important message.

What I’ve seen less - and what I want to remind people of - is this: if you’ve become fat, that’s also natural and beautiful and fine.

When you’re a fat person who has been thin in the past, that comes with its own brand of shaming. People take your history of thinness as proof that you don’t have to be fat. You often fear the look of disappointed surprise in the eyes of someone you haven’t met since you were thin. People try to determine “what happened”. They don’t see your fat body as just you, but as a sort of symptom that isn’t part of you.

Becoming fat is not a tragedy, it’s not a sign of failure, it’s not a bad or shameful thing. The thin you is not the Real you. You are always real and always worthy of freedom, respect and peace. You are allowed to be fat no matter how or when you became fat.

I would like to hear more about Cactus Guy from Encanto

Hey, new friend, let me tell you about the Encanto character all the fanfic writers are totally sleeping on.

image

I have named him Cacti Miguel, because Jorge is taken, and obviously average Encanto resident rolls in zero cacti per year but Miguel, here, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

This cannot be an accident. This man looks like he deliberately went out and found a patch of prickly pears to roll around in. Even if we assumed he had the same accident-prone gene as Agustín and Mirabel, I really think that getting oneself into this situation had to take some skill.

Therefore, this is the one man in the Encanto who’s possibly enough of a disaster for me to ship with Bruno, and one day I’m going to write the story of their relationship, including the series of bad life decisions that led to the deep resignation on his face in this moment.

objectively good idea

I am once again reminding everyone that the purpose of these bills is to pave the way for requiring government approval ID verification to use the internet

When you ask government to do the jobs parents should be doing, not only will they objectively do a terrible job, they will use the opportunity to take away more of your privacy and infringe further upon your rights.

Mass censorship and surveillance under the guise of “protecting the children” is a tale as old as time, yet people keep falling for it

Children do not need to be removed from social media children need to be given back their own social spaces on the internet that they would prefer to use. But then also taught more cyber safety like goddamn.

Seems like a FANTASTIC way to isolate Queer and/or ND children in abusive situations from their peers, as well as depriving them of information and resources.

Which is of course the main reason for this shit.

it’s okay if you get confused easily. it’s okay if you forget things easily. it’s okay if you lose track during conversation easily. it’s okay if you have to ask for clarification often. it’s okay if you struggle to parse information or sensory unit. you’re not “playing dumb” or “doing it on purpose”. it’s okay to be disabled, some people just refuse to be accommodating.

Unpopular opinion, I guess, but I actually feel sad for the bird app refugees. I’ve been on here for a decade and I remember how it felt after nipplegate, when so many people were leaving… there’s never another place with a comparable culture, and your friends may not all be there for the same reasons, so everyone ends up scattering and things are never the same. You lose track of some friends forever, and your interactions with others are permanently altered. Your comfortable routine, if you like comfortable routines, is gone. You may eventually find a new home, or you may live on amongst the wreckage of your old one (if that’s an option), but… it still sucks.
