Listen, the SAM is a wicked awesome thing that helps a lot of folks understand their romantic and sexual attractions better. BUT, as a card carrying aspec that uses the SAM, I want everyone to know that it’s super duper important that it not be applied to ppl who don’t use it on themselves. People don’t like this, largely bc they find it sexualizing. Whether or not you agree with that, their feelings should be respected 10000%.
This means that the SAM should NOT be your first assumption about a person when they tell you their orientation. The standard IS “no-SAM”, even if they tell you they’re aspec, and this isn’t aphobic or anything; it just makes good sense (since not all aspecs use the SAM) and is respectful of other ppl’s feelings.
You really can’t lose if you follow these rules. :)
tl;dr - Until a person explicitly uses the SAM to describe themselves, NEVER use it on them.
I love that this is written to explicitly include the fact that some people are JUST asexual, or are only comfortable IDing as asexual. So often, when I tell people I am asexual, if they have any info on asexuality, they will ask me, “what is your romantic orientation?” and they THINK they’re being understanding, but there’s a history of aphobes trying to get at what an asexual person’s “real” orientation is, and it ALWAYS feels like that’s what I’m being asked. I don’t know how to answer that, and it feels like erasure when it’s brought up.

Things came crashing down on us financially this month. I have a 4 year old and we have only 50 dollars to spend on food. Our food stamps were taken from us, and we have a car payment, electric bill, and phone bill left to pay, as well as part of our rent for next month.

hi everyone! so, i’m a pretty small account in the grand scheme of things, but i was just wondering if anybody would like to help me out with some research i’m doing for a short series i’ll be writing.
in the series there will be four main characters, and for reasons which are relevant to the plot, one of these characters will be autistic.
now, since i’ve had no personal experience with autism, and have never personally known anybody autistic, i didn’t want to rely solely on internet research to help me as i know that can be wildly inaccurate.
i decided to reach out on tumblr, because it has always been one of my favourite social media sites for the simple fact that most of the people i’ve ever spoken to on here have been wildly helpful even with the smallest things.

Hey, if you’re sick of nazis on your Tumblr but you keep on having to block new ones, Tumblr’s most recent experimental feature can probably really help you out. It’s called Reblog Graphs and you can test it here.
Basically, what it does is show you a network of how your post was reblogged and who were big influencers in getting lots of reblogs. That’s useful in general but extra usefull if you want to know who to block to get rid of shit on your dash.
For example, this post that I wrote got a lot of notes and when I use Reblog Graphs is generates this graph:
I’m the yellow dot and all the other dots are reblogs, the bigger the dot, the most reblogs originated from that reblog. Next, I can click on the dots and see who they are and what content they added. For example:
When @thatdiabolicalfeminist reblogged my post the result was a lot of supportive reblogs, helpful feedback and conversations that I want to have.
But check out the other cluster:
When wogbeginatcalais reblogged my post the result was a stream of hateful comments by white supremacist, nazi blogs and nazi trolls. Not stuff I want and one reblog started all of it.
I had blocked a lot of white supremacist blogs when the hate started, but according to Reblog Graph I missed out on quite a lot of the most important blogs that were causing my post to be noticed by these shits in the first place. By blocking key nazi dots in this chain, I can now more effectively stop nazi shits from finding my posts. Good to know!

I’m very sorry guys but I’m in a situation where I once again desperately need a little help. I was just rejected for a job I went to last week, they told me I wouldn’t be a “team player” because I told them during the interview that I have regular panic attacks and struggle with depression, anxiety and general social interaction(open and honest y'know). To make matters worse my benefit has been cut which I have been told was because, and I kid you not “I didn’t try hard enough” at the interview. Honestly, fuck my entire life!! Once again I’ll be struggling for 6 weeks until my sanction has been lifted, I got a benefit payment of £229 a few days ago which went to paying my rent and it has left me with nothing for food or my electricity/gas meters. I have again went to my local government/food banks for help but I can’t get anything off them because they only help people twice in a 12 month period and I don’t qualify for additional help because I don’t have kids.
And I know this is alot to ask, believe me, I know. But even the smallest donation of £1/$1 would mean the absolute world to me. All I need would be around £140, that would enable me to put money in both my gas and electricity meters and buy me food for 6 weeks. Additionally if anyone wants me to write them fics in exchange for a donation, I would be more than happy to oblige.

The NYPD is helping a “Gotham” actor find his missing transgender child, officials said Wednesday.
Actor Donal Logue, who plays Harvey Bullock on the Batman-inspired
drama on Fox, reported to police Tuesday that Jade, 16, never came home
after meeting up with a friend at the Barclays Center in Fort Greene.
Logue, 51, said Jade, who is transgender, identifies as female and
changed her name from Arlo to Jade on several social media sites within
the last year. Jade left home about 3 p.m. Monday.
Logue reported the teen missing to police about 1 a.m. Tuesday, an NYPD spokesman confirmed.
The actor also tweeted about his child’s disappearance.
“Missing- yesterday at 2PM Barclays Center/Fort Greene Brooklyn: my
child, Jade Logue. 6'2" 180 lime green hoodie dark green military
parka,” Logue tweeted.
Logue took the tweet down after his fellow actors Olivia Wilde, Mark
Ruffalo and Stana Katic spread the word about the disappearance,
according to heavy.com.
Attempts to reach Logue or his agent for comment were unsuccessful Wednesday morning.
