A Black woman, Simone Manuel, won a gold medal swimming and representing a country where 70% of Black youth do not know how to swim and Black youth are 3x more likely to drown than white youth. A Black woman won a gold medal representing a country that just decades ago would have closed down an entire pool for public health reasons for a Black body crossing the gate. A country where a hotel manager threw acid into his pool to kill the Black bodies swimming in it. It’s so much bigger than sports fam.

This post proves the point of why nonblack people shouldn’t ‘dread’ their hair.
Only afrotextured (3c-4c type hair) dreads naturally because of its corkscrew shape.
All other types of hair matt, which is a whole different process where the cuticle of the hair has to be damaged and raised, revealing the inner sticky core of the hair in order for the hair strands to stick to one another. (picture for example here)
Obviously, these 2 things are not the same.
That’s why all it takes for black people to have dreads is a little twisting and some kind of moisturizing product, and a life time commitment to constant maintenance & hygiene. Black people’s dreadlocks are CLEAN.
And why white people do silly shit like back combing, the ‘twist n rip’ method, elmers glue, not washing their hair, and other forms of damage, lack of hygiene and neglect to achieve an imitation of the real thing they consider a ‘low effort’ hairstyle.
The Justice Department has found that Baltimore police violated black residents civil rights.
Before Baltimore officers took Freddie Gray on a paddy wagon ride that would lead to his death last year, the local police force had been routinely violating civil rights and using brute force against residents in the majority-black Maryland city.
That’s the gist of a long-awaited report released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Justice, which launched a probe of policing practices in the Baltimore Police Department following Gray’s death in April 2015.
Among its findings, the Justice Department said Baltimore officers disproportionately stopped and arrested African-American residents, often lacking probable cause and failing to tell arrestees why they were being detained. Hundreds of residents were stopped by police at least 10 times — some, more than 30 times — in the span of four years, according to the copy of the report that Mic obtained Tuesday night.
Justice officials also found that 82% of Baltimore Police Department’s traffic stops involved black drivers, even though they only accounted for 60% of the driving age population of the city. Officers had also used excessive force against residents and retaliated against those who spoke out against their tactics, according to the report.
The Justice Department’s investigators conducted interviews with police leaders, current officers, community members and civil rights activists, who all agreed on one undeniable truth.
Who didn’t know this? Who needed a report to tell them the obvious.
True, this is obvious and we don’t need a report to tell us what is right in front of our faces, but an official report is necessary in order for the DOJ to push for change.
As a result of these findings, the Justice Department is likely to ask a judge to force Baltimore officials to institute reforms that can be tracked by an independent monitor. (x)

and that islam — a religion that comprises 1.6 billion people worldwide — is not an existential threat to the u.s.
but that is not what trump and his supporters want.
they want carte blanche to express their bigotry without consequences, plain and simple.
and on july 21, when trump accepted the presidential nomination, the republicans made him the face of their party.
A panel of potential jurors in a Las Vegas courtroom did not seem to notice that the white supremacist tattoos on Bayzle Morgan’s face and bald head were covered with makeup Monday, as they will be for the rest of his robbery trial.
But in the early afternoon, one of his lawyers, Dan Bunin, noticed that some of the beige concealer over Morgan’s “Baby Nazi” neck tattoo had started to wear off and bleed onto the collar of his white shirt.
A teardrop tattoo below Morgan’s right eye also appeared to be showing through, the lawyer added.
District Judge Richard Scotti said he could not see the tattoos but agreed to delay jury selection for about 30 minutes while a makeup artist performed an impromptu touch-up.
The judge had ordered all of Morgan’s head, face and neck tattoos — including an Iron Cross on the back of his head and a swastika within a clover under his left eye — covered after members of a previous jury panel said they would not be able to decide the case fairly because of Morgan’s appearance.
Y’all call me when a Black defendant gets to have his case heard from behind a screen so the jury won’t be influenced by his skin color when they start handing out the punishment.

AFRICANGLOBE – A courtroom cosmetologist has been tasked to apply make-up on Bayzle Morgan’s face every day during his robbery trial, before jurors can see him. In the courtroom, Morgan will appear in street clothes, uncuffed and tattoo-free, the Review-Journal wrote.
