your daily reminder that Cyntoia Brown has to spend the holidays in prison because she defended herself from being raped at age 16. a petition was created that needs about 20k more signatures in order to bring more attention regarding a clemency to the Senator of Tennessee (where she is currently imprisoned). CYNTOIA BROWN NEEDS TO BE FREED.
a little more about this story for those who aren’t aware.
-Cyntoia Brown is now a 29 year old woman who is in federal prison for murder. Before the murder occurred, she was forced into human trafficking by an older man named “Cutthroat” at age 16 years old. She was repeatedly raped, beaten, and drugged by dozens of men everyday.
-In 2004, She murdered a 43 year old realtor named Johnny Allen who would sexually exploit her. There’s no doubt 16 year old who has been sexually abused multiple times by older men felt threatened at the moment. Regardless of the situation, this is rape. Let me repeat this again for the future idiots who are gonna try to defend this man. What Johnny Allen did to Cyntoia Brown is rape. She was 16, he was 43.
-In 2012, Cyntoia was sentencedto life in prison. The age she’s eligible for parole? 69 years old. She is now 29. If we don’t raise hell to the government of Tennessee, this woman might not get out until another 40 years. IF she is “eligible” for parole.
On January 17, 2017, bill HR 586 was introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives which would assert that human life begins at fertilization. This would mean that after intercourse when a woman’s egg becomes fertilized up to 6 days after sex, weeks before most women would even be able to realize they are pregnant, that the pregnancy would be considered a human life therefore preventing the option of abortion.
This bill is a direct threat to women’s rights everywhere. If passed, not only would this bill prohibit a woman from making her own choices for her body, but it would also replace safe, regulated abortions with risky back-alley abortions. In contrast to what many pro-life advocates believe, it has been found that banning abortions has no impact on actually reducing abortions, but instead forces women to perform risky “at-home” procedures.
We call on the trusted leaders in the US House of Representatives to vote against this bill to protect women’s rights and to advocate for the health and safety of all women.
Please sign this and SHARE SHARE SHARE if you would like for women and anyone with a uterus to maintain the right to make our own choices about our healthcare and our bodies!

If anyone actually knows this guy’s identity, you keep it to your goddamn self because they are going to kill this man.
This is why you keep yourself anonymous. This is why you cover your face. This is why you don’t publish pictures of you engaging in anti-fascist activities on the internet for everyone to see.
These people want you dead, point blank period. Between them and the Feds, you are not safe. This shit is not a game.
I just started a petition to get WeSearchr banned from Twitter. Please click the link here to sign and help keep this man and other people safe.
Boost this petition, WeSearchr should not be a thing
This might seem fun for some people, but for us it’s not.
You see, Palawan is known for its non-commercialized islands and untouched beaches. There are only a few resorts in there, and the government limits tourism population there. Here are some pictures of our beautiful islands:
Nickelodeon, however, wants to capitalize the island of Coron, Palawan. They’re going to build a resort and theme park there. They claim that they want to “spread environmental awareness” but they’re really not. Building this resort will disrupt the marine ecosystem; thus destroying the environment there. Also, Palawan is our last ecological frontier in the Philippines. If they’re going to continue to do this, more and more big companies will cash-in to commercialize Palawan- and I really do not want that to happen.
I know petitions won’t do much, but at least we can prove a point that Palawan should not be disrupted. Please sign this petition, so that it will not only show that us Filipinxs don’t want this, but people from different countries as well. Please spread it around as well, so that people from different countries can be aware of what Nickelodeon is doing.
Ang aming kalikasan ay hindi dapat sirain. Maraming salamat po.
Gotta spread this myself. I’m Filipina and the conservation of home is incredibly important to me. Pollution is already a huge issue throughout the country’s cities. Many islands including Palawan are home to not just beautiful nature but some of the last of our untouched, uncolonized heritage.
wtf
NO. PLEASE NO. I LEGIT CRIED WHEN I READ THE NEWS ARTICLE. The article is in a legit news network. It’s not fake. MY CHEST HURTS AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY. The developers say it won’t hurt the environment but artificial structures are artificial structures. PLEASE. PLEASE. NO.
I CAN ONLY HOPE THE PETITION IS GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I SIGNED IT SO FAST.
EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT FILIPINO, PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST. PLEASE.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND SIGN THE PETITION!!
It’s one of the only good things we have left in our country. I’m hoping and praying signing this petition this will really help us out. So many things are already destroying the Philippines, and we’ve got pollution everywhere. I can’t have this happen to one of the few good things we have. Please, sign this. Please. I don’t want anyone to do terrible things to my country anymore. Our environment here has been through pretty rough years and I don’t know how much more it could handle.Please. Please sign the petition.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE FILIPINO TO SHARE THIS. I DON’T WANT TO SEE THE ENVIRONMENT AROUND ME GET DESTROYED LITTLE BY LITTLE. IT’S ALREADY STARTED A LONG TIME AGO, PLEASE HELP US STOP IT.
Josh Yehl is petitioning Disney and Lucasfilm to dedicate an out LGBT character to his friend, Christopher “Drew” Leinonen, who was killed at Pulse. Yehl hopes that having a gay character either inspired by or named after Leinonen could counteract some of the hate and homophobia in the world. There’s a Change.org petition but it still needs help.
As moviegoers and fans of the original 1995 Ghost in the Shell film, we respectfully request that you cast an actress of Japanese descent for the lead role of Motoko Kusanagi rather than Scarlett Johansson.
The American film industry is already unfriendly to Asian actors without roles in major films being changed to exclude them. One recent survey found that in 2013, Asian characters made up only 4.4% of speaking roles in top-grossing Hollywood films.
Please use this opportunity to help talented Asian-American actors receive recognition for their work. There are so few opportunities for them to shine in Hollywood, and this film would be a perfect platform.
Congress is poised to give a foreign mining company 2,400 acres of national forest in Arizona that is cherished ancestral homeland to Apache natives. Controversially, the measure is attached to annual legislation that funds the US Defense Department.
This week, the House and Senate Armed Services Committees quietly attached a provision to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would mandate the handover of a large tract of Tonto National Forest to Resolution Copper, a subsidiary of the Australian-English mining company Rio Tinto, which co-owns with Iran a uranium mine in Africa and which is 10-percent-owned by China.

If you would feel ok taking a dog away from a young girl who is confined to a wheel chair, fining her family if they objected, and then killing the dog, there may be a place for you in city government in Moreauville, Louisiana!
On October 13, the village voted to ban pit bulls and Rottweilers.
A letter was sent out to owners saying that if they didn’t get rid of them by December 1, then they would be taken for “further disposition.”
The dog pictured above is a pit bull named Zeus. He is owned by a girl named O’Hara Owens, whose neck problems require her to wear a brace and use a wheel chair. Zeus has never been accused of any aggressive behavior, and he’s a huge comfort to O’Hara:
“If anything ever happened to him, I would just shut down,” she said. […] She says Zeus acts as a sort of “therapy dog,” providing love and support for her and her other brothers and sisters.
“I can sit here if I’m in pain, he comes and he notices it before I even make any noise,” she said.
O’Hara’s family says they will not surrender Zeus, to which Moreauville Alderman Penn Lemoine replies that the village government will take the dog by force, fine the family, and kill Zeus:
We asked Lemoine about dog attacks…
“There have been, but I don’t think they’re documented,” he said.
And, if they plan to kill the dogs they collect on December 1…
“I’d rather not elaborate on that,” he said.
“Is that what it is? Are you going to kill the dogs?” asked reporter, Brooke Buford.
“If that’s what the ordinance says, then that’s what it says,” Lemoine responded.
However, Lemoine did admit that the town might reconsider in the face of enough uproar, so O’Hara’s family created a petition for exactly that purpose. If you wouldn’t feel ok taking a dog away from a young girl who is confined to a wheel chair, fining her family if they objected, and then killing the dog, you can sign that petition here.
Hopefully, the ordinance will be overturned. I hope and think it will, thanks to the media attention and public outcry over this patently ridiculous law. But breed-specific legislation like this is not an isolated incident, and it is not ok. Learn more about this cruel abuse of animals—and liberty—here.
OKAY GUYS THIS PETITION NEEDS AT LEAST 20000 MORE SIGNATURES THE BAN IS IMPLEMENTED TODAY/TOMORROW.
