maybe this is a controversial take and/or maybe i’m not interpreting the episode the way others did, but a lot of the episode “the begotten” (baby changeling episode) made me massively uncomfortable. it seemed like. idk. an episode about the cycle of abuse continuing but it’s okay because “it was good/necessary for the child in the end.”

just.. seeing odo attempt a gentler approach to parenting and having the narrative be like “no, that does not work. hurting this child is the only thing that will help it grow” was kind of upsetting.

i also just feel like odo should have been allowed to not forgive dr. mora (or at least not involve dr. mora in his life) even if dr. mora didn’t initially realize odo was sentient

lots of kids have been hurt by the actions of parents who maybe didn’t realize they were hurting their kids. and those kids MIGHT have been made more resilient by what they’ve gone through. but it doesn’t mean they have to be thankful (as dr. mora hoped odo might be) for that growth.

What’s the deal between Garak and Odo? First, they arrange breakfasts! And we all know why Garak arranges meals with people, being one horny lizard. (Andrew Robinson said himself that Garak’s sex life is “up for grabs”).

Moreover, for his breakfast with Odo Garak wears makeup? (Blue paint which is mostly worn by female Cardassians; it’s not very visible on the gif, but it’s there).

Then Garak decides to set Odo up with a random lady and they have a following conversation:

GARAK: Letting Aroya walk out of here without arranging a date. You should be locked away for that.

Wait, what?

The Death of Weyoun 6

ID: Six black-and-white gifs from DS9, showing close-ups of Weyoun 6 as he dies in Odo’s arms. His expression is hopeful and his eyes wide. His hand trembles around Odo’s arm. He sinks deeper into the embrace with a sad smile. End ID.

Odo: (actively dying on the bed between them) Garak is a murderer.

Garak: I can neither confirm nor deny but how do I look??? 😏

Odo:💀
