Garak volunteers. He 100% approves of fully committing to a deception, and anyway, a little minor surgery seems like a fair trade to get A) Julian’s extreme gratitude and B) Julian’s hands on him.
any medical procedure involving the removal or repair of bodily tissue is technically a surgery, garak just came in to get his little claws trimmed 🦀
Or maybe he lets Julian fix the carpal tunnel he’s starting to get. He wasn’t going to admit the weakness, but if he can frame it as a favor, that’s acceptable.
Julian goes along in the interest of Garak’s health. “You’re right, this is hardly worth bothering with, but I appreciate you helping me out anyway.”
24th century medical technology means Garak could easily be back at work the next day with no discomfort. Any doctor would know that.
One particular doctor doesn’t see the need to mention that at any point over the next three days he spends following the tailor around, taking over any task that might stress Garak’s wrists as they ‘fully recover’.
Purely in the interest of his physical well-being. Everyone knew how dedicated Julian was to his patients. It would be damaging to his reputation as a doctor if he neglected one and Garak healed poorly as a result.
kira is fluent in Gay Kardasi Body Language & really wishes she weren’t & when miles tells her about the incident with gilora she’s like [heaviest sigh, praying to the prophets for a red alert or anything to remove her from this situation] “garak acknowledged ulani & gilora as a gay man to a lesbian couple & they acknowledged him back, they’re together, they also saw him arguing with julian in the replimat & probably realized garak was into him, gilora’s been working with you all week & knows *you’re* best friends with julian, so if she orchestrated a scenario where it would seem spontaneous to tell you cardassians flirt by arguing–because prophets forbid a cardassian do *anything* directly–then of course you’d tell julian, & he’d put two & two together about garak, & i don’t know if or how they know each other, but something tells me they owe him a favor, & much as it pains me to say it, do you really think julian wouldn’t go for it if he knew garak was interested?”
elim garak: have you ever in the past fucked my man? or are you presently fucking my man? or do you intend in the future to fuck my man and/or to approach my man with intent to fuck? would you fuck him in the dark? would you fuck him in the park? would you fuck him in a car? would you fuck him in quark’s bar? perhaps, say, when you go into the holosuites for hours at a time in those little village people army man costumes i sewed with my own two lizard claws?? just curious. only wondering. tell me the truth. i’ll know if you lie.
it’s like…s6-7 julian is just…so sad! so glum! so eaten away inside by loneliness and grief and disillusionment and trying desperately to hold on to his former idealism and zest for life and yes, i’m in full garashir clown makeup honk honk squeak squeak etc, and yes it’s the war and losing friends and all the stuff with section 31 but…a huge part of that sadness is also the lack of scenes with garak. i like miles and i like his relationship with julian, i even see why they’re shippable - whether as a polycule or a timeline where miles x keiko isn’t a thing for whatever reason - but it’s just not the same flavor as garashir and it’s because ultimately julian will always be more invested in miles than miles will be in him. partly because miles already has a family, but also because miles doesn’t extend the same nurturing fondness to julian that garak does. miles loves him but his softness and nurturing is reserved for his wife and children. but garak looks at julian like he’s the apple of his eye, he handles julian so tenderly even when he’s riling him up, he’s just so gentle and loving with julian because he knows julian deeply, and treasures him. miles is the gruff and warm daddy, but garak is the nurturing and playful daddy who lets julian bounce between childlike wonder and witty repartee with trust and caring, who handles all parts of julian not just carefully but with an understanding of what he needs, who
“It worked from the very first scene we did together, at lunch on the replimat…there was a kind of frisson beteween us, a kind of energy between us that they really loved. It just hadn’t worked with any other characters for me. They tried to do all the ordinary things they tried to do with young leads at the time. They try and make sure that they have a love life, and everyone that came in and out of my world it just didn’t click. So, kinda, my love life was really Garak.”— Alexander Siddig (x)
