Okay, I want to run an experiment. To anyone from the United States who is currently reading this, would you please note in the tags what you call your grandparents and what state you are from. For instance, I am from Georgia, and the terms I use to refer to my grandparents are ‘Granddaddy,’ ‘Grandmama,’ and ‘Nana.’

So the area around us is seriously flooding. No direct threat to our house yet, but roads are being washed out all over. My husband just went to pick up a few groceries for dinner, and found the Meijer parking lot flooded. Luckily the Wal-mart was clear, which we hate shopping at normally. But it was the only option.

The county west of us has declared a state of emergency. I’m worried about my parents. So far their house is dry, but it’s supposed to rain all day again tomorrow.

I’ve never seen anything quite this bad. I mean it often floods around the rivers in spring with the snow melt, but this is something else. I’m just thankful our place is safe.

I work in the social service sector and before the list even opens we get notified and when I saw this I’m like..Um this isn’t true and even called housing authority and this is NOT true.

A simple Google search of the number listed is to an ESCORT service in Detroit.

PLEASE do not fall for these scams!! Please share or pass this information to someone else to save a life.

To everyone out there seeking affordable housing, if it seems too good to be true, it is absolutely not. Most Section 8(housing choice) vouchers are through local housing commissions. In the Detroit area, there are NO HOUSING COMMISSIONS with open waiting lists. Yes waiting lists!! Most commissions have a lottery to just get on the waiting list to get a voucher. NO OPEN WAIT LISTS!! You will never see same day housing. This does not exist. This does not even happen for people in the shelter system (homeless). 

Please be careful and watch out for your safety and your friends’.

Help rebuild the mosque after it was set to flames

Our local Mosque burned down this weekend.  The cause is still being investigated and I think everyone is being very careful and very optimistic because we’ve a lot of damage related to high winds this week.   But the information that’s trickling out looks increasingly suspicious. 

Anyway, here is the crowdfunding site to help them rebuild.

I just read about this in my synagogue newsletter; it’s the next town over from us 😢

Tahquamenon Falls State Park, The Upper Peninsula, Michigan. 

We took a ride over the Mighty Mac to the see some the falls and go for a short hike. The falls apparently this color because of tannic acid from decaying pine trees further upstream. I personally think it looks like a waterfall of cola. Things are a little different up in the U.P. and not just the waterfalls.
