hey I think I found the worst interior design tiktok

I go to babysit for this kid and find him alone in the Masculinity Chamber scribbling “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” on the interior of his empty metal lockers and tearing a Tom Brady jersey to shreds with his teeth

i love when boomers complain about shit like this because as a fast food worker i would literally rather walk out into the lobby and shoot myself in the head than suggest more than one menu item to a customer

Yeah former 8 year Starbucks employ here. This never happens. I’ve have had what amounts to a flip on this happen more often. Something like

“Welcome in what can I get you”

“I want a plain black coffee”

“All rights wha-“

“No sugar or cream or flavor or anything else.”

“Okay, got it, wha-“

“I don’t want no caramachmocha flippy-do’s or frappachina-what-it’s. Just. A plain ol regular black coffee”

“That’s great sir, now please wha”

“Just a old fashioned stright up coff-“

“SIR WHAT SIZE DO YOU WANT YOU STUPID FUCKING COFFEE”

Omg, it’s NOT cute that calling nonbinary people “they/thems” or “she/theys” ect has become like a default normalized thing even outside of trans people joking around.

It’s real weird and hackle-raising seeing presumably cis people (but honestly anyone) be like “some he/they I met” or what have you. That’s so dehumanizing and no one would say that about cis people. Just say nonbinary person you lunatics. Jfc

Do u think sci-fi writers realize how massively Bad destroying a planet is. Like, an Entire Planet, Exploded. Cool visual! Explosions. As we typically think of them are not possible in a vacuum but that’s besides the point. The Point Is uh that’s a whole planet? That is a Whole planet. If it can sustain life this is Infinitely Worse. I’m the kind of dumb ass that will think about it too hard and I just

That’s. More death than any previous extinction event, anything the human race has endured, all at once. Just, no more life. That’s any recorded history kept on the planet itself, destroyed. No writing no fossil record nothing. An Entire Planet, Gone. Like??? Y'all realize how huge blowing up a planet is, right. That’s A Planet. If this was earth you’d have more than like 30 seconds of going “damn that sucks :/” before moving on with the plot but if it isn’t earth it’s just shock value huh. Okay

The last part reads like I’m an alien personally offended by this trope and yknow what. Perhaps

As a person who (despite appearances) wasn’t really into sci-fi until quite recently that’s something that always REALLY bothered me

I remember watching Star Wars with my dad as a kid and she was like “Oh check out this fun space movie :)” but after the Death Star obliterated Leia’s planet (Alderan?? I think was the name?? I haven’t seen Star Wars since I was 12) I couldn’t pay attention to the movie anymore bc that was a whole planet that was a fucking planet obliterated in an instant all the life upon it, all the trees and children and flowers and fish and everything is dead instantly just fucking gone forever and we’re barely gonna acknowledge it???!!!!!??!?!??!!?!?!?!!??!! Just a few “Please don’t"s and Obi Wan being like "Ah something is amiss??” That’s it???!?!??!?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!!??!!!?????!?!?!!??????

You ever wonder if the Kardasi for Obsidian Order means “black rock order” or “volcanic rock order” or maybe just “black order”? Does the UT translate “black” as “obsidian” purely for the alliterative aesthetic? Did. Did the Order somehow program it that way?

#in the prophecy & change anthology there is an explicit allusion to a geologic formation in a remote region of cardassia #made of pure obsidian & it’s of religious significance in hebitian practice as well as being the kind of place #that tests your mettle in a wilderness survival situation #& it’s one of the oldest known ‘mountainous outcrops’ on cardassia #& apparently many of cardassia’s mountains & rockfaces are actually made of volcanic rock #& a traditional obsidian order weapon was fashioned out of them hundreds of years ago #so that’s the beta canon backstory bc i am an insufferable pedant thanks

@chicago-geniza YOUR TAGS!!! Thank you for this info. This is fascinating. I love learning this stuff.
