And can we just talk about how Julian knows Garak is going through some shit. He knows Garak is hurting and this mission is dangerous, and Julian just wants to help his friend. He doesn’t know what he can do to show he cares. He’s like, ‘Let me do something for you. Tell me how I can express how much I care about you.’ And when Garak offers nothing, Julian gives back the one thing he has that he knows Garak enjoys.

It’s so kind and selfless, and it hits Garak hard. You can see it in his face. “Oh, Julian really cares about me. He means this.” And listen, Elim Garak is so attracted to kindness it makes him look stupid. If he hadn’t already been pining for Julian for three seasons, *this* right here would have been quite a spark.

And idk, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Garak avoids Julian for a while after he returns to the station. I feel like he would set this moment next to Odo’s torture and decide that Julian is better off without him, that Julian is too good for him. He doesn’t want to be Julian’s Enabran Tain. But he can’t stay away forever, because he is a moth to the flame, a regnar to a heat rock. And Julian wants him close.
