I keep seeing people having genuine discussions over the meaning of Gerard saying “in the face of extermination, say fuck you” and I’m sorry but why does it matter… yes I do think it was in reference to anti trans bills being passed, but even if it wasn’t, Gerard has proven to feel strongly about the movement in the past so why would adopting the sentiment be misappropriating his words… even if he was talking about something completely different: 1) do you think he would care about it being used in a pro-trans way, and 2) what’s the issue with trans people finding comfort in an empowering message…

Please, would you yassify your stede a little bit? Thanks in advance <3
“you cant let covid scare you! living in fear isn’t the American way!” That’s awful big talk coming from a nation that hasn’t allowed people to carry shampoo bottles onto planes for 20 years
The fact that someone thought I was using “unperson” as cutesy TikTok speak for “kill” instead of as a word that made its way into the English lexicon from George Orwell’s 1984 is a little too on the nose I think
talking about BONES (2005-2017) at work yesterday and someone went “that’s the show with the tension between the two leads, right?” yeah dude. unrelated i want to ask you one million questions about media
kinda confused over the people calling dream “cold” and “emotionless” because hELLO did we even watch the same show? he literally cries over jessamy’s murder, even chooses to stay captive far longer than he has to, all because he couldn’t forgive her murderer. he grins from ear to ear when he finally sees lucienne’s lovely face again, whispers her name like a prayer, clasps her hand tightly and takes a moment to let go because he’s clearly missed her as much as she’s missed him. he holds grudges like nobody’s business (see: nada). he hesitates to get close to matthew because he doesn’t want another bird to die on his behalf again. he’s just as heartbroken as cain and abel when he has to reabsorb gregory, and is definitely amused when he meets jed walker. and don’t even get me started on his arc with calliope and orpheus. because even in the short amount of time we see them interact, dream is nothing BUT feeling. he seethes with quiet anger over the woman he once loved being used and discarded like a common plaything, he practically begs her to let him help, and at the end, when all is said and done, it’s revealed that he’s still in the process of grieving their only son, so much so that he can’t even talk about it just yet, even after thousands upon thousands of years, and in this essay i will
i’m really intrigued by the concept of stede being like, pirate catnip
like imagine other pirates hearing bastardized telephone-game versions of everything that stede has done: he’s killed two high ranking british naval officers. he trashed spanish jackie’s bar and she let him live. he killed calico jack. and, somehow, not only is he not afraid of blackbeard at all, but blackbeard actually defers to this guy a lot of the time. dotes on him, even.
and then they meet him and they’re just so goddamn confused, but at that point the mythos of the gentleman pirate is too big so every other pirate captain they meet keeps trying to like, sway and seduce stede over to their ship and ed has little fits of jealousy while stede is just….wildly oblivious and just thinks wow these infamous pirates are a lot nicer than everyone said they would be :)
