So, we know Garak is a very good tailor, right?

Let’s just look at something. We know he sometimes does a shirt sleeve or a pant leg too long or too short. One person even says “If I’d known what he was capable of I wouldn’t have complained.”

My headcanon, is that everyone who is a bit of a dick to him, gets an alteration fucked up. It’s petty, it’s passive aggressive.

But it costs the person he does it to more in time than it does him to fix it. If it’s a uniform, they can’t wear it. They also have to find the time to drop it in, tell him the issue, and wait to get it fixed.

It costs Garak the time to listen and fix it.

And the whole time, he’s internally smirking at this.

It’s the pettiest thing I can think of, and we know Garak is petty.

Does this look like the face of someone who wouldn’t do this?

This shows up the most starkly in the holosuite costumes.

All of the costumes Garak makes for Julian are impeccable. Not a thread out of place. Period accurate. The fit is like a second skin.

All of the costumes Garak makes for Miles have a 50/50 chance of ripping somewhere important right in the middle of the holosuite. Garak asserts that Miles is just very rough with the costumes. (Which he is a bit. That’s how Garak got the idea to make some of the seams weak.)

During the brief time when Odo was both a solid and doing holosuite stuff, all the costumes Garak made him were perfect. Not too tight, not too bulky. Very breathable. Odo knows exactly what Garak’s doing and Garak just says that he tries to provide all of his customers with good quality clothing.

Major Kira was about to go to a different tailor when she took Ziyal under her wing. Suddenly, every costume she gets is really comfortable and long lasting. Her uniform alterations are no longer nearly imperceptibly shorter on her left side. When she confronts Garak about the sudden change in quality, he asserts that he got some better equipment and that he’s shocked that she’d complain about getting better clothing.

Jadzia suggests who Garak should prank next. Garak pretends that he has no idea what she’s talking about and makes sure the alterations on her uniform are way off the next time she sends him her uniform. Jadzia, being Jadzia, rocks the hell out of badly altered uniform, causing Garak to become swamped with requests for similar mistakes. After that, he listens to whom Jadzia thinks should be pranked and her clothes are altered with only minimal mistakes. Also, she has some really cool ideas for costumes that Garak genuinely gets excited about doing so she gets back in his good books pretty quickly.

Sisko only wears baseball uniforms to the holosuite, and he brought most of those from Earth. He only uses Garak when he literally can’t get anyone else, and insists on trying on the clothes before leaving. The fact that Garak didn’t reinforce the shoulder seams is a bit of shoddy craftsmanship, to be sure, but nothing that will be noticed until Garak’s shop is closed for the evening.

All of Morn’s clothes are horrible, but Morn is Morn so he just wears them.

Fox Mulder is such an amazing character, though, because on paper, he sucks: Wiseass federal agent with a porn addiction who is obsessed with conspiracy theories, thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room that he’s in, and is just hot enough to be dangerous.

But David Duchovny plays him with such dumb, gleeful kid energy that suddenly it all just…works. You can’t hate him. Look at him!

He’s got nonthreatening male sexuality of a Disney prince in the 90s. You look at him and think Look at this hot idiot, He’s trying his best. All he wants to do is get laid, infodump to his girlfriend, and meet a real life dracula. He’s like if you turned an orange male cat into a human. He definitely owns an album of Halloween sound effects. He’s six feet tall but he’s just a little guy.

Get laid?? Did this man have sex more than like maybe twice in 20 years??

I didn’t say he succeeded

I relate to Stede Bonnet because if I had the funds I too would ensure my fantastical getaway included secret passages, a library, and all sorts of hedonistic comforts.

I too would also feel incredibly pleased about using passive aggression and gossip from servants to take down those who mocked my totally just a friend.

^ someone said that once and I can’t get it out of my head.

In other news, yes - Elim Garak remains my favorite Star Trek character ever.

Officer, I love him.

Look at that move, that delicate swivel to step over and close the distance. I love it.

Such a poor little meow meow…
