This is actually something I was thinking about is that rent can not exceed 1/3 of monthly minimum wage income.

So let’s say state is on federal Minimum wage which is about 1100 a month so in that state no matter what rent on any place could not exceed 370 dollars.

Even if minimum wage was 15 dollars (about 2400 a month) max rent could be 800

So if landlord want more money they would have to fight bosses and state legislature to get it.

Like average Pennsylvania rent is 1400 and in this world if landlord wanted to charge that the would have to get minimum wage raised to 26 dollars an hour.

To bosses and landlords:

Hear me out: I think the trans and disabled communities should be bffs (like the ace and bi communities are). Not only are there a lot of people who are both, but consider our shared experiences:

  • The grand and noble tradition of lying to doctors to get semi-adequate medical care.
  • “It’s all in your head.”
  • Being told we’re faking it to get those sweet, sweet benefits of being oppressed and having unusually high rates of poverty.
  • People asking us invasive personal questions within 0.2 seconds of meeting us.
  • Being told that we’re not REALLY trans/disabled because we don’t fit into preconceived notions of what we should look like.
  • Being held to ridiculously high standards of appropriate behavior/attire/language because if our whole lives don’t revolve around being the perfect cripple/performing gender to the max, we are either faking or somehow being bad representation of ourselves.
  • Shocking people by actually being happy with our bodies and celebrating them.
  • Also shocking people by expressing negative feelings about our bodies.
  • Getting frustrated when people act like we’re oppressing them for wanting to exist comfortably in public.

In short, we have a lot in common re: the shit we put up with, and we should be besties.

Probably too much of a 3 a.m. thought, but…

What if Cardassians had pantomimes?

Hear me out. I can totally see the Cardassian government and the Cardassian people loving a bit of State-sanctioned pantomime. Everything is glorifying the State, of course, and the lines the audience shouts are traditional / scripted, but it gives the people a brief moment of chaotic glee in what is otherwise a very regimented society. A sort of chaotic release of “Oh yes you are!”

Also, we get the bonus of Julian coming to Cardassia after the war and being shocked by a show that resembles an English pantomime to an almost startling degree.

I would like to talk about how much I love Black Pete for a moment. When he was introduced in episode one, I assumed he was going to be the killjoy side character—jealous, a homophobe, maybe he’d keep trying to kill Stede or team up with the bad guys. But he evolves into such a sincere, hilarious guy without losing that initial stubbornness/bravado. His relationship with Lucius was so unexpected and refreshing and real. I just love that little dude. Out here officially endorsing mutinies, carving wooden fingers. He’s a great guy deep down and Stede’s crew gives him the space and patience to start to unlock that.
