The reason why I have a problem with typically radfems + “gender criticals” talking about the “3rd gender” in not white cultures and them simply labeling the genders as misogynistic-caused (aka them implying that the gender is for women) and or homophobia-caused (aka them implying that the gender is for men) is that they truly do not understand that you cannot put western labels on non-western concepts bc it’s just mislabeling at best and colonialism at worst.
There are simply concepts that cannot exist in western colonialism and that includes genders outside of man or woman. These genders that existed before western colonialism cannot be applied to the binary or can even be called non-binary as the western man-woman gender binary SIMPLY DIDN’T EXIST FOR THE CULTURE AT THE TIME.
TLDR: Stop applying the western man-woman gender binary to cultural genders. Just stop. Decolonize while you’re ahead.
Yes and westerners, stop interpreting pre-colonial non-western gender forms that are different from the western binary as “homophobic” or “misogynic” and therefore “backward” and therefore western colonialism brought a positive aspect in these societies through erasing such “harmful” traditions. And stop using these kinds of half-truths and misinterpretations to prove how “woke” you are in saying pre-colonial non-western societies didn’t have to be perfect to deserve to be left alone, that western colonialism is still bad even if it brought nice changes to these “bad” socieites. This doesn’t make you look woke at all.
Also, stop saying things like the concept gender and sexual orientation was invented by the west. This highly specific european form of gender, the only one of which you happen know, was invented by the west.
The “mating in fungi” Wikipedia page is making my brain die, but I think how this works is that fungi that do sexual reproduction can have hundreds or thousands of different distinct “mating types” that are compatible with any type different than themselves. some fungi mate with fungi that are the SAME mating type as themselves though. and some fungi mate with themselves. and some of them do fully asexual reproduction, and a lot of them do multiple of these things.

“come up with a definition for Woman that excludes all men” we can’t!!!!!! I was reading the book Weird Life by David Toomey and there is a section in it where it talks about the definition of life and how it may actually be impossible to come up with a complete definition for life. My biology textbook in high school had a list of eight criteria for life, but those criteria are full of caveats and exceptions. An obvious one is that life is capable of reproducing, but some things that appear to be alive (mules, for example) cannot reproduce
A lot of people already know that “meme” was coined in the 1970’s by Richard Dawkins, to describe like, a unit of information that is passed down and evolves like a living thing. But here’s the part I had never heard before. By the definition of life we mostly use today, that defines “life” by how it is subject to evolution, memes are not “like” life. They ARE life.

It’s true that like once you start having ambiguous gender feelings it’s a little bit of a free for all like yes I’m a woman but I’m also male and I like being called a boy but I’m not a man like sorry I’m on Advanced Gender nuance now but also my gender is that stuffed fox on a chair.

@ everyone in the notes talking about physical performance: if that were the case, then sports would be divided by physical performance. thatâs a thing you can measure. thatâs a thing that varies by individual. a weak man and a strong man would be an unfair fight in boxing/wrestling/MMA, which is why they divide those sports up into weight groups based on physical performance. but they also further segregate them based on gender. chess is segregated by gender for no reason but sexism. if itâs actually about skill and physical ability, then measure those and separate people by those metrics. donât do some bullshit gender segregation and pretend like men and women are inherently on different levels no matter their individual abilities.

also can we talk about how surfing is segregated as well? like how the dude who won this years international surfing cup or whatever was given $30,000 worth of prize money, while the woman who won the womenâs comp was only awarded like $16,000 of prize money???? or whatever it was. but I know it was either half or less than half of what the man won. like why canât they get the same prize money and when theyâre competing internationally in the same competition? they surely have the same level of skill and talent.
the pay gap in sports between men and women is fucking insane.
The pay gaps, not to mention lack of sponsorships for women athletes who donât look like models is insane. If you weigh over 250 pounds, no one will sponsor you. Itâs why most female Olympic-class weightlifters live in poverty/out of their cars.
Reminder that in international (and usually national too) womens athletics anybody with 5m/mol of natural testosterone or higher is disqualified. (See legal case of Dutee Chand vs IAAF.)
Do you or somebody you know have PCOS? You are banned from international womens athletics because you are supposedly in posession of an unreasonable advantage in sports.

Why are those disqualified overwhelmingly black and brown? Because testing is case by case when an athletes performance âraises suspicionsâ. They overwhelmingly test athletes of colour, for being too fast and not meeting white expectations of femininity.
Racism and intersexism(discrimination against intersex people) in sports is abject evil. Desegregate sports.
