so like I’m on the record as thinking garashir isn’t exactly as conflict-ridden of a relationship as it seems to be on the surface, but on the other hand, the song is a bop and i do think at least one if not both of them do kind of see it this way at times - so here you go
Just occurred to me, that scene when the station is trying to kill them-
Garak stands up, realizing that the targeting won’t hit him, as it won’t hit Gul Dukat, because they’re both Cardassians.
Julian says his name and Garak doesn’t even have to look, he puts out a hand and says, ‘easy, Doctor!’.
The fact that he KNOWS, without even having to LOOK, that Doctor Julian Sabutoi Bashir is about to throw his skinny ass into the fray because he thinks Garak is about to get shot– that this is ENTIRELY the kind of thing he would do, that he doesn’t even have to look to MAKE SURE that Julian is trying to scramble out from under/behind cover.
‘Yes, that seems the sort of thing the Doctor would do’. Just. From the damn get-go, he is aware of the kind of person Julian is and that his principles would extend to him risking his life for Garak.
The fact that Garak just rolls with it, shows that he KNOWS it’s a foregone conclusion that if a shot were coming at him, Julian would jump for him.
