AU in which Julian breaks up with Ezri for Garak. But he can’t leave immediately for Cardassia, because he has commitments on the station. He and Garak exchange letters and video calls. Meanwhile, Garak and Kelas are together. Julian listens to all the things they get up to together and he’s happy Garak has Kelas but god it hurts to not be there.

Finally when Julian has concrete plans to visit Cardassia, a plague breaks out on Ds9 and he can’t travel. He feels like he is slowly losing Garak until finally Garak tells him he doesn’t love him anymore. They break up and Julian never goes to Cardassia.
