hi, my name is Avi and this is a sideblog I am creating in order to help people who are:

• questioning whether their household(s) / family member(s) are abusive (this blog will have a focus on parent/guardian abuse) 
  

• know their households had abusive elements, but struggle to parse between specifically what was healthy, and what was abusive. this often happens because the abuser(s) continue to make justifications, or have taught the child mixed or untrue messages about what is healthy, and this is still distorting their perceptions and making it hard for them to do things like not blame themselves, name harmful behavior when they see it, etc 
  

content this blog will include:

• text posts describing abuse versus healthy behavior, as well as abuse versus ”normal interpersonal issues/conflicts people go through” (with external sources as needed, but many of the topics discussed are legitimized simply by morals such as “children should be treated as humans”) 
  
• answers to asks giving advice (”is this abuse”, “what should I do in this situation”, “has anyone else experienced this” etc)
  
• quotes, studies, links to recommended books and other sources that could become good resources for people to learn more about what family abuse versus healthy family interactions look like.
  
• text posts about strategies helping survivors - things like methods for staying safe and coping in an inescapable situation, seeking PTSD (or similar mental health) treatment, building a healthier relationship with a family member if that is what the survivor wants to do, cutting ties safely with a family member if that is what the survivor wants to do, confronting the family member if that is what the survivor wants to do, etcetera. (followers are also encouraged to submit and ask personal suggestions or external resources for these strategies as well)
