I know he’s only in ASIT, so that’s most of why, but I wish we talked more about how important Tolan Garak was to Elim’s character and development. Like. Tolan taught Elim to nurture, to have patience, to love things for what they are not just what they can give, to appreciate beauty for its own sake! And to love Cardassia as a concept beyond the Central Command and the Obsidian Order. Tbh idk how Elim would have turned out if he hadn’t had Tolan’s influence in his early years. And I just think it’s a great thing that he did have this quality father figure in his life to contrast against Tain. And that it was a male character who gave Elim all of this. I think that’s important. The best parts of Elim are the fact that he deeply and desperately loves and he is deeply and desperately loyal and he got those traits from Tolan.

Garak on Earth fics

conceptadecency:

Seeking Garak on Earth fics, Garashir or other. I can think of only a few off the top of my head:

HOA and The Missionary by @eilupt, two very cute vignettes of married garashir living in an insufferable Earth suburb.

The Accident by @zaan-zaan has some scenes on Earth in later chapters, with expectant parents Julian and Garak living with the Bashirs.

My own The Park, featuring Garak following Julian to Earth post-canon instead of the usual reverse situation.

I’m sure there are others. If you know of any could you please add to the list? Would also appreciate re-blogs a ton to help spread this around!

I really do ship Garak and Damar for that like specific moment in time. Sigh. Just desperate clutching for balance. Finding comfort in each other despite their differences. Hate sex almost but not quite, you know??? Sex that’s more about taking pleasure than giving it. Full of messy complicated feelings. Damar trying to find some twisted absolution for Ziyal’s murder. Garak wishing Julian was there instead. (Poor Kira pretending to sleep in the corner)

I have read a few good fics for this, but sadly a few are all that exist.

What do you think of the "revenge bad" tropes frequently found

it actually pisses me off sooooo much when characters are like “ohhh but if i hurt or kill the bastard who made my life and others’ a living hell i’m just as bad as they are!” like grow up and shoot him what are you catholic

“but i’m too good to kill anyone! :(” i’m not. give me the gun.

imagine ds9 but everyone has a stupid catchphrase like in a sitcom. some episodic villain has finally been caught, odo asks what they should do with him,, then we just pan to sisko, putting on a baseball cap while staring into the camera, “like they say in baseball… three strikes and you’re out.”

This is Garak erasure.

Writers, artists, cosplayers - Curious about how writers thought Garak’s physique looked? Here are pics of his torso padding - which indicate a very deep and broad rib cage. Photos of original props sold at auction, came from yourprops.com.

This explains a lot! *crumples notebook paper* rarrrgh!

this is why i always had to remind myself that while Bashir was technically a few centimeters taller, Garak was built like a fucking tank.

Yeah I made the mistake of thinking Garak was slightly overweight, and that may be the case to an extent, but the truth is that Garak is a fucking unit.

Like Dukat is lean and tall, but Garak is legit like “crush your skull with a single fist” stupid strong. And he just slithers around the promenade with his shit eating grin talking about books and hem lines like he couldn’t kill everybody in the station if he wanted to.
