me growing up:
I don't understand how an empire like Rome with so many resources and such a clear advantage could tear itself apart, it just seems unlikely
me watching the 2016 election cycle:
oh
“It makes you want to turn off the news. It makes you want to unplug the internet. Or just look at cat GIFs. Believe me, I get it, in the last few weeks, I’ve watched a lot of cats do a lot of weird and interesting things. But we have a job to do and it’ll be good for people and for cats.”
— Hillary Rodham Clinton, accurately summarizing the entire country’s feelings about the election and reminding us what’s really important. (x)
a majority of americans do not support the views of trump. rightfully, we should never have to say President Trump. but that’s not how it works. it’s all about how the votes go, and if liberal votes are split, we will lose (source)
Clinton voted in line with Bernie a whopping 93% ya’ll! I don’t think even the most staunch Trump supporter could say with conviction that Trump would vote even 10% the same as Bernie- think about the consequences of your votes!
One of TWO PEOPLE will win this, who do you really want it to be??
He’s made America vile. He’s got angel-voiced children yelling “bitch” and flipping the bird at rallies. He’s got young athletes chanting “build a wall” at Latino kids on the other side. He’s made it O.K. to bully and fat-shame. He’s normalized perversion, bragging about how an aging man with his sense of entitlement can walk in on naked women.
Here’s his lesson for young minds: If you’re rich and boorish enough, you can get away with anything. Get away with sexual assault. Get away with not paying taxes. Get away with never telling the truth. Get away flirting with treason. Get away with stiffing people who work for you, while you take yours. Get away with mocking the disabled, veterans and families of war heroes.
[N]ow, in the final days of a horrid campaign, an unshackled Trump is more national threat than punch line. He’s determined to cause lasting damage.
Is there one sector of society he has yet to maul? Until this week, it was the denial wing of his own party, those “leaders” who looked the other way while their leader walked all over the Constitution.
But those who take pleasure in watching Trump destroy the Republican Party are missing the bigger picture. He’s trying to destroy the country, as well. Civility, always a tenuous thing, cannot be quickly restored in a society that has learned to hate in public, at full throttle.
The Republicans who sat silently while Trump was vile, until they suddenly discovered their patriotism and conscience last weekend, do not get a pass. They built him, starting in 1968 with the Southern Strategy, and they strengthened and empowered him with the rise of right-wing hate radio and Fox “news”.
Donald Trump will lose this election, but he needs to lose in a landslide. He needs to lose by huge margins, so that he is humiliated and unambiguously rejected by the decent people in our country.
Donald Trump, and everything he represents, must be repudiated on November 8th, so talk to your friends and neighbors, get involved in your community, and get as many people out to vote for Secretary Clinton as you can. We must show Donald Trump and everyone who empowered him that we reject everything he stands for, and that we know we are stronger together
Republicans
backing away from GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump still share the
blame for stoking “the swamp of crazy” that fueled Trump’s rise to the
top of their party’s ticket, President Barack Obama said Thursday in
Ohio.
“Don’t act like this started with
Donald Trump,” Obama told state Democrats at their annual dinner. “He
did take it to a whole new level, I’ve got to give him credit. But he
didn’t come out of nowhere.”
Obama aimed most of his criticisms
past the GOP nominee and at Republicans who allowed conspiracy theories
and the anger of the party’s base to grow to the point that Trump was
able to commandeer it.That includes those who un-endorsed Trump, as
Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) did on Saturday, after a 2005 video revealed
Trump bragging about using his fame to assault women.
“They don’t get credit for, at the
very last minute, when finally the guy that they nominated and they
endorsed and they supported is caught on tape saying things that no
decent person would even think, much less say, much less brag about,
much less laugh about or joke about, much less act on,” Obama said at
the dinner.
“You can’t wait until that finally
happens and then say, ‘Oh, that’s too much, that’s enough,’ and think
that somehow you are showing any kind of leadership and deserve to be
elected to the United States Senate,” he continued. “You don’t get
points for that. In fact, I’m more forgiving of the people who actually
believe it than the people who know better and stood silently by out of
political expediency.”
Portman announced
that he will no longer support Trump for the presidency and will vote
for the Republican vice presidential nominee, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence,
instead. The senator is seeking re-election against former Democratic
Gov. Ted Strickland, whom Obama praised at the event. Portman leads
Strickland in polls by 13 percentage points, according to a HuffPost Pollster average of surveys.
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) still endorses Trump, but said he would no longer defend him, while Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has avoided speaking on the matter. In the days since the video was published, multiple women have alleged they were sexually assaulted by Trump, which he has denied.
Obama questioned the Republican message: “You claim the mantle of the party of family values and this is the guy you nominate?”
He accused Republicans of laying the
groundwork for Trump by “feeding their base all kinds of crazy for
years, primarily for political expedience.”
One example was Trump’s long-running
lie that Obama wasn’t born in the U.S. ― an attack on the first black
president that most Republicans declined to condemn. Trump took until last month ― well after the GOP nominated him ― to acknowledge he believes Obama was born in the U.S.
“If Trump was running around saying I
wasn’t born here, they were okay with that as long as it helped them
with votes,” Obama said. “If some of these folks on talk radio started
talking about how I was the antichrist, ‘Well, you know, it’s just
politics.’ You think I’m joking.”
Obama also criticized Texas
Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. Greg Abbott for fueling a conspiracy
theory that the president was attempting to launch martial law in Texas,
pretending they didn’t know about a military training exercise.
“What do you mean, you don’t know?
What does that mean? Really? You think that like, the entire Pentagon
said, ‘Oh, really, you know, you want to declare martial law and take
over Texas? Let’s do it under the guise of routine training missions,’”
Obama said. “They took it seriously. This is in the swamp of crazy that
has been fed over and over and over again.”
Obama said that’s why the Republican Party is where it is today.
“They stood by while this happened,” he said. “And Donald Trump, as he’s prone to do, he didn’t build the building himself, but he just slapped his name on it and took credit for it.”
donald trump and his camp do not want you to vote. they want you to get discouraged, they want you to step away, they want you to say all politicians are the same. because then he wins.
he knows he can’t win fair, so he’s trying to suppress the vote. fight back. see through it. do not let them use dirty tricks to win
I don’t normally advocate murder and cannibalism (…um, obviously?), but desperate times call for desperate measures, and Trump is nothing if not rude and tawdry. It’s time for Hannibal to step up and be our hero.
I think that Hillary finally won this, I really think that after the debate and the video, and the republicans not supporting him, Donald Trump is NOT going to be the president
National polling is leaning that way too.
Remember- polls are only accurate if you actually go vote on Nov 8th! Check that you are registered, talk to your work now about when you can go to the polls, get it done.
