Do Not Let These Polls Scare You

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about Trump climbing in the polls, so I just want to reiterate:

Polls do not determine elections. Votes do.

Polls can make us feel defeated and powerless, as if the election is already decided, and it is out of our hands. Just when we thought we had this in the bag, the country is turning away from Hillary all because of some blasted emails. It’s a scary trend to see.

But look, polls are approximate representations of limited groups of people. They are easily skewed and misrepresented. People often respond one way to a poll and another way on voting day. Questions can be worded in a way that is deceptive or confusing. Sample groups can be unavoidably biased. I’m not saying all polling is ‘rigged’, but it isn’t infallible.

So don’t feel defeated. Be motivated! Push back against the influence of negative polling and doomsday reporting. Talk to people about why it is so important to vote for Hillary and to Vote Blue and Progressive in down ballot elections. Let them know that we will not be discouraged. But most importantly, VOTE.

WE CAN WIN THIS. WE WILL WIN THIS. IN FOUR DAYS, WE WILL MAKE HISTORY.

  • 2016 good end: trump killed by clown(s)
  • 2016 neutral end: hillary wins by decent margin and trump goes tf away
  • 2016 bad end: trump loses but sticks around & won’t shut his godawful mouth
  • 2016 apocalyptic end: trump wins the presidency, america, presumably, falls into ruin

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence confirmed that, if elected, they would rescind the Obama administration’s federal guidelines protecting gay and transgender children from discrimination at the local level, effectively leaving them to the mercy of extremely gay-unfriendly states and schools.

In an election that in its totality is more and more every day a race to the sordid gutter, we should hold to the knowledge that the Republican ticket has stated unequivocally that it will not protect our youth. If we, as LGBT Americans and our allies, give our vote to enable that discrimination, why should our youth ever forgive us when they come of age? And, why should we forgive ourselves?
