My annoyance at people insisting the Doctor has to be attractive is outweighed only by my annoyance at people insisting this man is NOT attractive.
Attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder, of course. But the Doctor’s job isn’t to be a sex symbol. It’s to SAVE THE UNIVERSE. Get some perspective, people.
Also, if one were to judge what the Doctor ‘has to be’ by who the original Doctor was well… 
I think the people who are saying this about Peter Capaldi don’t realize that Doctor Who started with William Harnell not David Tennant.
