Riker literally fell asleep in the middle of his poem, and no I do NOT give a fuck that he was being kidnapped in the middle of the night to be experimented on by an unknown outerdimensional species for days at that point Data deserved his FULL ATTENTION

I hated how that whole episode treated Data’s poetry becuase it was GOOD. Seriously, take the other poem he recited:

not to rag on about something people already know but datas emotion chip was SO dumb…data isnt pinnochio who needs to be magically turned into a real boy, hes the tin man who wants more than anything to have a heart without realising hes had one all along. they were SO CLOSE to him realising that he had emotions and that he was perfect and whole as he is but NOOO they had to pull that shit
