OMG I just realized Rikasa juice is fish, isn’t it? Julian mentions being able to smell it. And then in the tribbles episode that Klingon says Cardassians drink hot fish juice in the morning. And I just. Put that together. This whole time I was thinking rikasa was a Cardassian fruit, but is it actually a fish?

And meat stew! But yeah. They are omnivorous lizards, so I guess it makes sense.

I recently rewatched “Destiny” with Gilora and Ulani. Love the scene when they are like “Yeah the best part of our job is we don’t have to eat Cardassian food…” 😂 I feel like the only person we definitely see enthusiastically eating it is Damar in the finale.

Garashir cuddling is so interesting BC. Garak I’m sure would be all in on it “I wrap myself around a warm blooded individual so we’re bonding AND I’m warm? Sign me tf up.” And while Bashir is in on it in principle cuddling with a Cardassian just means “oh God you’re COLD all of you is cold and you’re on all of ME stop stealing my heat! Compromise is Julian wears long johns to bed.

While this is hilarious -and I think it’s a great idea for a fic too- I can’t help thinking, I have never touched a reptile and found them to be particularly cold. Don’t know what a giant reptile would be like though.

Most reptiles need a basking temp of 80F or greater so if they’re being properly cared for, they probably wouldn’t be noticeably cold. But it’s worth considering that Garak’s living on a station that’s probably about room temp on avg.

Also even if they don’t feel cold right off the bat, if you’re cuddling a large one for a extended period of time and it’s not, like, 95F where you are, you’ll definitely begin to feel it as your body heat is sapped away.

It’s like leaving a glass of cold water in a room. Eventually the water’s temperature reaches equilibrium with the room’s temp, and the water (being of small volume) becomes much warmer and the room (being of large volume) becomes imperceptibly colder. But if the volume of the glass and the volume of the room are about the same, it’ll bring the room’s temp WAY down in order to partially warm up the water. And in the human body, you only need to lose a degree or two to begin to feel it.

You know how some languages have a formal/informal thing with the grammar? I think Kardasi would have that but with three instead of two so it’s like, for authority figures vs equals vs people below you

Imagine talking to a Cardassian and they hit you with that “you” (derogatory) but you don’t even know it because this doesn’t translate at all

This is cool but Hindi already (unofficially) has three (tu/tum/aap) and Japanese has the honorific (-chan/-kun/-san/-sama) thing going on so in order to make it sufficiently alien I suggest at least seven:

• you (honorific) - for people with high social standings
• you (formal,deferential) - for elders or seniors
• you (formal) - for equals in a formal setting
• you (affectionate) - for loved ones
• you (casual) - for friends or equals in a casual setting
• you (diminutive) - for younger people
• you (derogatory) - self explanatory I hope

Alas, I have done absolutely no work on anything writing-wise for months now. My brain is mush. Time is no longer a relevant concept. When it comes to life, the universe and everything, my thoughts mimic those of a bowl of petunias falling swiftly through the clouds.

So here, have a rough sketch of a Cardassian undressing instead, with all the shadows in the wrong places.

(putting my very mediocre GCSE in Fine Art to use, for once…)
