Does Manwë have a favorite bird, not counting eagles of course

A great question that I had to really think about!

A serious answer would be that I always think of Manwë and Ulmo being close, so it would really be Manwë that loves seabirds - albatrosses, terns, sandpipers (all of them!).

If you want the silly answer, my favourite bird is guinea fowl, so in my head he loves them too. I’m sorry it took me a while to reply but you cured my art block because I started thinking about these stupid birds and had to draw them. So thank you!

I almost forgot to mention: this woman came into the penguin enclosure with a KESTREL??? I said “oh my god is that an American Kestrel?” and she said “Yes! She was outside doing raptor education for the kids, but she doesn’t like to get rained on.”

#she was watching the penguins with what I will anthropomorphically project as skepticism

kestrel: i hate rained on!!

human: here is birds in water

kestrel: ……no…..

Anyway this is a rail chick not a baby crow. Crows are altricial, meaning they look like little blind mostly featherless blobs when they first hatch. Think robins or sparrows.

Rails, and most shore birds, are precocial, meaning they hatch out able to walk and feed themselves with just a little help from their parents. Think chickens or ducks.

Here are two hungry crow hatchlings! They scream, eat, and shit just like human infants! They are entirely reliant on their parents for survival.
