I Love the birds GIFS on the internet sooo much that I wanted to illustrate them with little funny GIFS as well =D
We always need birds !!!
So, which one represents you :D ?
The american woodcock’s name in french is “La bécasse américaine” ^^
Flamingo - Flamant rose
Perroquet - Parrot
Robin - Rouge-gorge (red throat !
Hilarity!
Incidentally the top one, a European Robin, is making a display that if verbal would be R-rated. They are territorial, pugnacious, possessive and prone to violence.
But they are also friendly to gardeners (if “Dig Faster, Human! Make More Bugs!” is friendly) charming and popular on Christmas cards.
The Bluebird couple has been bringing their babies from brood 1 that they raised in a different spot down to the backyard recently to introduce them to feeders and bath. The female is spending a lot of time in the box but I don’t think she is done laying yet. As of this morning, she has four eggs. This was an early morning scene at the pond, first she comes in, then a baby. You can hear the others faintly in the background. It is kind of neat to have them here without all the worry during their first nesting.
thinking about that kakapo egg that got crushed but the conservation team patched it up and it survived
life will persist against all odds
For those who don’t follow kakapo conservation, they are critically endangered parrots who only breed on years where the rimu tree they rely on meet a certain threshold of fruit production. One breeding season in 4 years can be typical, and about half of all eggs laid by kakapo are infertile (they still aren’t completely certain why, it could be a recent population bottleneck) so each fertile egg is worth its weight in gold.
This was one of only 5 fertile eggs laid on the Whenua Hou island population in the 2014 breeding season and it got crushed by its mother on accident. It was mended with glue and tape and incubated by the rangers until hatching.
At 150 days old kakapo chicks are officially added to the population total and given a unique name, until then they are given their mother’s name and a number for birth order laid in the clutch. This chick was known as Lisa-one before officially being given the name Ruapuke by local indigenous Ngai Tahu people. Here he is grown up:
We hung out at Longfeather Lane yesterday. Hubby helped build the new quail pen while I hung out with the birds.
First up is the gorgeous Stan Lee!
Next up is the extremely handsome Poppa P aka Indie.
Purples are so beautiful. His colors are stunning IRL.
A few of the brooding girls too
I hung out most of the time with Jocelyn but forgot to take pics of her. She is a very old turkey. We are friends. She knows my voice as I usually feed her dandelions which she loves. I only found one today for her but I fed her some other treats.
