Accurate

Inaccurate when I say I’m not very political it’s because I’m not. I’m a libertarian that leans conservative but politics bore me.

The next post on this dudes blog is about how women are naturally inferior

Do you consider cat declawing to be unethical, and if so, what would you consider to be the best alternative?

yeah declawing is ABSOLUTELY unethical from a medical standpoint, and I’ll tell you why!

so this is what a cat’s paw looks like on the inside:

image

take a quick second to look it over, and note which parts of it are actually touching the ground and bearing the cat’s weight.

it’s the “palm” and the ends of the toes, right?

image

well, that’s the problem. so you probably ALSO noticed that the cat’s claws are actually attached to those last toe bones, which is why when a cat is declawed, they remove that entire last toe joint like this:

image

so the issue is, the bone that was bearing the cat’s weight is gone. it no longer exists. this forces the weight of the cat’s body onto the end of the second bone, here:

image

and that’s a HUGE fucking problem. that bone was never meant to touch earth, the ends of it are covered in nerves and connective tissue instead of padding! putting weight on it WILL cause the cat pain, chronic-for-the-rest-of-your-life pain!

cats are terrible about actually expressing pain, but if you pay attention to how declawed and non-declawed cats walk, you’ll notice that declawed cats put their feet down much more gingerly and are more hesitant with their first steps.

image

and this is because it hurts.

please don’t declaw your cat. just use claw caps or keep their nails trimmed.

thanks for attending my TED talk bye

Reading the less than savoury reviews of The Sandman tell me there’s an odd bunch of apples out there that believe the series adaption to be;

  • Heavily reliant on CGI,
  • Contained amateurish sound design,
  • Had too many plot lines,
  • Was uninteresting after episode 6,
  • An overall uninteresting story with boring characters,
  • Had every fantasy trope under the sun.

It’s entirely strange to me and feels as if we may have watched two completely different shows. This day and age all people want is action packed, blockbuster projects. There’s no appreciation of taking things slow and deliberate, of creating beauty, intensity, severity. It reminds me of two films, Mother (Aronofsky, 2017) and The Green Knight (Lowery, 2021), the first received as too profound a metaphor to comprehend and the second too silent and slow but, both with captivating brilliance, overlooked.

The comment on CGI makes little sense given that the show is prided on it’s seamless fusion of SFX and practical effects. And it’s fantasy! What do they expect? Real portals? An actual talking raven? Furthermore, David Buckley and the sound department did a great job on the sound design/score of the show. I don’t understand why people didn’t like it.

The two major plot lines I took note of were Dream’s quest to reclaim his tools and him dealing with the vortex. Perhaps people got overwhelmed by the amount of characters involved? And that each of them actually had substance and a story to explore and weren’t just in the background?

Lastly, after episode 6 is when we get to see Dream’s character development so I don’t understand why people got bored. Or, for that matter, found the whole show to be boring and the characters uninteresting. That was a true surprise. Plus, the source material was written over 30 years ago, meaning, the ‘fantasy troupes’ weren’t as prominent as they are today. And despite this, watching the sandman still felt unique and stand-alone compared to other series.

It’s entirely baffling to say the least. Both to me and, I suspect, a great deal of others. However, I feel I must let go of my obstinacy, for there will always be people who simply do not like things and we will be ever confounded by their lack of interest and utterly disturbed over their loud proclamations of said dislike.
