A screenshot of a tweet by Griffin @GriffinMalone6, followed by a video. The tweet reads “Alex stopped to save a gunshot victim from bleeding out, he was then given Saint Paul Police Chiefs Award for Valor. He then gave this small speech. (Video from @/onsitepublicmedia ig)”

Video ID: Two men stand in front of the Saint Paul Police Department. One is an officer, and the other is Alex, a middle-aged man with a greying beard, wearing a dark hoodie, baseball cap, and glasses.

Officer: It is my great pleasure to present you the ‘Cheif’s Award of Valor’ in recognition for your heroic efforts. Congratulations.

Alex: Thank you.

[Applause is given while the officer presents Alex with a medal, and a short inaudible exchange is shared between them. Alex is taller than the officer so he takes the medal and puts it on himself.]

Officer: Congratulations, would you like the opportunity to say a few words?

Alex: Yeah. Um. I appreciate it. I um. [The man takes off his hoodie to reveal a shirt that says “Smash White Supremacy”] feel like I did what anyone would’ve done with the little training that they have- that I have: a certified firearms instructor. I work in this high school in Minneapolis. I’m a dad and a husband, and a wonderful community leader.

Um. That day, nine of your squad cars raced past us, as I was flagging them down; it said in the letter you sent me. And, that was a potential of eighteen people. Eighteen people could’ve stopped to help preserve life. But eighteen people chose to go to a potential threat. And I- and I recognize the man had a pistol, and we didn’t know what he was doing.

Um. I do appreciate the recognition, um, but I won’t keep this stuff. This [he gestures offscreen] will go to my mom, and this [he gestures to the medal around his neck] will probably go to my son. Cuz, I’m very uncomfortable being here with you guys, I do not rock with the police. But I appreciate you guys giving me the opportunity to say these things, and I just want folks to know that they don’t keep us safe. We keep us safe. Um. [Long pause]. Riots work. Thank you. 'Preciate you.

Officer: Thanks Alex.

Alex: I can take that. [He is handed a picture frame from the officer.]

[Inaudible.]

Alex: Thank you. Y'all be safe out here.

Officer: Great work [inaudible.]

Woman [off-screen]: Thank you.

Alex: 'Preciate it.

End ID.]

I think that people who balk at the phrase “all cops are bastards” might be helped out with “good cops don’t last.”

Sooner or later, every cop will encounter a situation where they can be complicit or try to do something about it. A good cop will try to do something about it. They will encounter immediate resistance, and will be pressured to shut up and be complicit (whereupon they cease to be a good cop). If they persist, they can expect to be fired, harassed, thrown in a mental hospital, or even directly physically attacked and murdered.

Hell, if they’re in the NYPD, after they’re done with you they’ll probably make a commemorative challenge coin about it.

A challenge coin commemorating the NYPD's fradulent SWAT raid to involuntarily commit Adrian Schoolcraft, NYPD officer and whistleblower, to a mental health facility. Here he is depected as a screaming rat in a straight jacket in the back of an ambulance. Under the ambulance is a quote from 81st Precinct deputy chief M. Marino, saying "Alright, just take him. I can't fucking stand him anymore."ALT

All cops are bastards because good cops don’t last. You are absolutely not allowed to be a good cop.

what is the story with the rat in the strait jacket? the link isnt helping me

It’s in the NYPD Challenge Coin section of that link. But the short answer is that an NYPD officer, Adrian Schoolcraft, was an NYPD officer and whistleblower who secretly recorded fellow officers doing crimes around 2008. The 81st Precinct that he worked for tried to shut his complaints down, and ultimately led to the department doing a fraudulent SWAT raid on him to lock him up in a mental health facility. He’s “a rat,” you see. The “54-EDP” on the license plate references the 10-code “10-54 EDP,” where an “emotionally disturbed person” is taken to the hospital via ambulance.

For anyone who has any questions about ‘aren’t the statistics bloated because there are more school children than cops?’ (oh yeah I saw those) Let me tell you the answer of what the number of shot children in school should look like:

image

(Image description: A blank graphing template.)

None. NO children should be shot in schools. There’s your answer.

Why do cops get shot on the job? Because they signed up to enforce the law and sometimes that requires dealing with dangerous people allowed to have mass murder machines.

A child cannot CHOOSE to go to school until they are like 15 in some states. But adults CAN choose to fill out an application for a job they WANT. Do not equate the life of a vulnerable child to that of a grown adult making adult choices.

Have the day you deserve.

The funniest part about the “bad apple” flavor of cop apologia is that the cops disagree

Every time a pig kills an unarmed innocent person and has any kind of trial or review, the defense is always that he’s a good man, he was doing his job perfectly, the entire institution of the police stands behind him and his actions, and the murder of innocent people is an unavoidable consequence of the existence of police, if not an intentional aspect of their job description. They literally tell everyone that innocent people will continue to be killed as long as cops exist and there’s nothing that can be done to stop them, and then they expect you to be okay with that

Cops want to make it very clear to you that if you condemn one cop, you condemn all cops. Maybe you should trust them

Honestly the best part of being a barista was charging cops for their drinks. They’re so used to getting free shit so it was SOOOOO good for them to pull up to the window and for me to be like “$6.47 :)” and them to make this whole elaborate display of slowly pulling their wallet out and handing their card over bc they weren’t expecting to pay. I’d charge you double if I could, oink oink bitch

how could you leave this in the tags
