tl;dr: put a small tax on businesses to pay for public transit. Many businesses already do this. it would make transit free for everyone, which would save money (no need for fare machines and enforcement), speed up travel (don’t have to wait for people to pay), and would improve the lives of everyone in the area (and ideally reduce car usage).
