I have finished ASIT. My heart hurts, but it was beautiful. I am sad it’s over. To think I feared disappointment!! But no, it is perfect. If you love Garak and/or have feelings about Cardassia pre- and post-canon, definitely read this.

You watch the show and you might think “I could never hate Enabran Tain more than this” but then you read ASIT and you can. I hate him more every time he shows up.

we learn in ASIT that garak was canonically jealous of miles for stealing julian away from him… well I say he should’ve just stolen keiko away from miles in revenge and started building an arboretum or a community garden or growing some plants to put on the promenade to make it look nicer with her. they’d both be doing something they love AND as a result miles would be jealous of garak and make sure to spend time with his wife, which would mean he’d spend less time with julian and julian would be free to spend time with garak. it’s a win-win

Anyway, in ASIT, Garak joins Search&Rescue to find people who are still alive buried in the rubble on Cardassia after the Burn.

This man. Who is claustrophobic. Whose claustrophobia has been exacerbated by trauma and PTSD INVOLVING ONCE BEING TRAPPED IN RUBBLE HIMSELF.

In ASIT, Garak talks about being sort of sad and disappointed and confused about why Sisko is upset with him after the whole Romulan senator business. He completed the task he was assigned, and he just wants recognition! It’s so fucking sad.
