btw for anyone scared of going on T for hairloss or longterm health reasons. its totally okay to take breaks from T or stop when uve seen the changes u want to. voice change is permanent facial hair is too and if ur worried abt hairloss. any places my hair was thinner or i was worried abt have filled back in within 3 months off T and on finasteride/using minoxidil. ive had no body fat changes either. ive heard some ppl say they never had it change back but it depends on the person.

idk i feel like i see a very do or die mentality w transitioning and while u cant pussyfoot around with it by urself as long as ur in communication with a doctor you can like. wean off it and go back on at your leisure. its completely fine to do so

Sometimes I just read posts that make me sit back and think. oh yeah. a lot of the people on this website are teenagers. how would I feel when I was 16 about reading the grumpy opinions I post

cause most of it is fine but if I was gonna post about like. ugh the narrow taste in popular music here is so tedious. ugh you think you’re so unique and weird for liking [popular thing]. ugh you have less nuanced opinions on this thing than I would like. which I do do. just. that’s as much a callout of 10 years ago me as it I of anyone else. a lot of the very black and white opinions and attitudes I get irritated at were interim steps at 18 or 19 to the more nuanced opinions and attitudes I have now. I also didn’t start building much of a musical taste at all until I was 16 or 17 and mostly just got into whatever people introduced me to. I thought I was very weird and unique for liking anime and doctor who and online rp and j-pop when I was 14. this would be very annoying for me at 29 but it’s foundational to building up your personal taste and interests and political opinions I think to be like this when you’re a teenager.

this is not meant to sound condescending which I know it does. it’s just that online I need to make sure I remember we’re all at very different life stages and not let the cringe factor of disliking my younger self make me be a dick to people at similar stages in their life.

I keep telling myself to stop making posts about FDA activities…but there are so many products hurting people

fuck it

some more from july 2022. everything in this post is VERY recent.

the FDA is the US food & drug administration. I am not tracking recalls in other countries.

  • unsafe levels of fucking lead in natierra organic freeze dried blueberries which were sold across the country. these were labeled incorrectly on the FDA website which is why I missed them
  • organic amaranth grain being recalled across the country due to salmonella
  • the CVS recall of potentially life-threatening contaminated laxatives applies to over 30 different lemon flavored laxative products, this one manufacturer is responsible for the bulk of the supply
  • over a dozen different enjoy life & trader joe’s soft baked cookies and chewy bars are being recalled because they may contain shards of plastic. enjoy life cookies are advertised as “free from 14 allergens” and as non-GMO and gluten free. the amazon variety pack is included. trader joe’s recall is limited to snickerdoodle.
  • no FDA link for this one but apparently factor 75 meal delivery service is recalling some of their rice products for containing shards of GLASS. emails are being sent out to affected customers
  • the family dollar recall affects HUNDREDS of different products to the point you have to click a PDF to see them all. this includes products like: midol, toothpaste, sunscreen, lidocaine, soap, deodorant, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, benadryl, nyquil, pepcid, pepto bismol, medication for children, zyrtec, lib balm, cough drops, rash ointment, baby products, prilosec, advil, epsom salt, imodium, miralax, claritin, mouthwash, eye drops, dish soap, and MORE. if you have shopped at family dollar recently, you are going to want to check this HUGE FUCKING LIST (scroll down to “list of recalled products”)

august 11, 2022. all listings are either recent (past few months) or ongoing since the previous post unless otherwise dated. some of these recalls are now worldwide. if you want to link this information off of tumblr, then use the provided FDA links rather than the post itself. I am not the FDA, this is not official FDA communication, this is not a comprehensive list of regulatory activities (there are WAY more than what I posted), this is not a comprehensive summary of all links. my goal is to encourage you to keep up to date with recalls and share regulatory activities from their official sources, which I have provided.

there might be mistakes because I probably have food poisoning right now. go figure.

everything else is under a cut because this got really fucking LONG. below contains information about drugs, warnings, sunscreen containing cancer-causing ingredients, worldwide recalls of laxatives, cancer medication being pulled from the market, pulse oximeters not working on darker skin, UV disinfectant wands containing unsafe levels of radiation, updates on previously posted investigations, products causing neck injuries in babies, and a lot more.

categories listed below the cut:

  • dietary supplements,
  • drugs

You aren’t faking if some days you struggle less than others. You aren’t being overly dramatic if some days are worse than others.

It’s normal for things to fluctuate and you are equally valid whether it’s a good day or bad day or somewhere in between.

We must reframe the narratives/dialog.

#LanguageMatters

I had a long argument about this a few weeks ago.

The thing is, as I realized while talking through it: the entire science of economics uses language that frames it this way. We talk about prices going up in response to low supply or high demand as though it’s a thing that happens spontaneously, on its own, like water evaporating in response to heat – as opposed to what actually happens, which is that people who sell things make decisions to raise prices.

Frequently those decisions are solidly predictable, and are necessary (or perceived as such) in order to stay in business, but that doesn’t make them any less conscious, active decisions. And so on for rents, wages, hirings/firings and the like.

These things do not change on their own without human intervention. People decide what they are going to be, and when they change, it’s because people have decided to change them.

Look we have records of Medieval Knights crying out in their sleep, having emotional outbursts or flinching at the sound of clashing metal. We have records of people all through history who were treated badly by people who should have loved them, and having problems knowing who to trust. We have years worth of artists putting their human pain at broken hearts and broken promises into music that makes us cry.

Yes people have been traumatized by awful things for all of history and just like them You didn’t deserve to be hurt either.
