mutuals tell me about your boyish smile so suggestively they never let us be together in a room again
I love how everyone agrees that 2016, specifically, was when the world jumped the shark, and while we all acknowledge that things have gotten worse and worse every year to the point where 2016 seems tame, THAT was the tipping point. When 2016 was happening we all knew that we were watching the world become silly, and none of us really knew *how* we knew that, but we did. Stuff happened and we just knew that things would be silly from that point on and we were absolutely right.
Actually my favourite part of this was how we all started by joking that 2016 was a really strange year that we would never be able to explain to anyone who didn’t live through it, and then the slowly mounting panic as the year stretched towards its end and 2017 came and we just had to accept that it wasn’t a weird year, the world was just like this now.
“Grandma, how did the world fall? What went wrong?”
“Well you see Jimmy it all started with this FUCKING gorilla”
love is insane you feel like you’re always subtly asking “do you still love me even though i’m flawed” and the answer just keeps being yes
sometimes im like…..what is the point of all this ??? and then i hang out with the people i love, and for a brief moment, i see

in Star Trek: Picard 1.03 “The End Is the Beginning”
😳😳😳😳
This is the saddest scene in A Stitch in Time. It’s the scene when Palandine and Elim last share intimacy, and Elim is being too daft too realize who she is. Of course, he certainly understood at a later point and was most certainly crushed. And so he felt the need to scatter those crumbs of clues for Julian too, like “You like tragedy? Here have some.” Poor Garak.
In the middle of today’s fitting, my client broke down. It was an extraordinary moment. […] As her grief spilled out, she also revealed that she had separated from her husband just before the negotiations began. It seems that he was a philanderer who had betrayed her trust from the beginning, and that she had tried for years to deny the truth of their relationship. I was nonplussed. […] I offered her a glass of kanar, and to my surprise, she accepted it… and several others.
- She broke down because she came on this mission to see Elim and he doesn’t bloody see who she is.
- She outright tells about Barkan
- Kanar! Who drinks kanar!? k-a-n-a-r-d-a-s-s-i-a-n-s :U
And so, what happened to Palandine when she was arrested?
The crowd had momentarily separated her from her escort, the two investigators and Constable Odo, and she stood there, looking at me with an expression that froze my blood. Not angry, not reproachful… not even disappointed. An even expression, relaxed, clouded by that tinge of sadness I had first noticed when we discussed Gul Dukat and the expected morality of Cardassian men. My first thought was that she must be a formidable negotiator. The second was that she was about to expose her “contact.” But she just continued to look at me with her intelligent, gray eyes, as if my skin were transparent and she could see all the way to the bottom of my soul.
[…] It took half the bottle before I began to breathe again; and only when it was empty did I finally ask myself the question: Why hadn’t she betrayed me as I betrayed her?Unlike Enabran, she forgave Elim. Then, we can expect that she most certainly offed herself, probably with poison. She was relaxed. In peace. Ready to go.
…On the upside, Pythas survived and I believed he personally watched out for Kel, because he knew she was most certainly Elim’s daughter.
It wasn’t Palandine, but it was her voice. And then I realized – it was Kel. She had grown into a powerful young woman with a sturdy beauty that was a harmonious blend of both parents.
Neither Barkan nor Palandine were ever described as sturdy but that would be a fitting description for Garak… and it wouldn’t be Garak writing if the book didn’t have lies and half-truths… ;)
Jake and Ziyal would have been perfect.
So I truely believe a massive opportunity was missed, and obviously *spoilers* if you haven’t watched up to season 6 of DS9.
If Ziyal had of come into the show slightly earlier then there could have been this fun period before Nog leaves for Starfleet where Jake, Nog and Ziyal are the mischief making trio on the station.
There could have been cool scenes where they cause trouble in the promenade and Odo chases them while they giggle and run. They duck into Garaks shop to hide and that’s when Ziyal meets him.
Garak and Ziyal would have had a more father daughter relationship where Garak tries to show her the love and acceptance that he never got from Tain.
Ziyal challenged Nogs sexism and proves through her rebellious spirit that she can be “one of the boys”.
During high tensions during the war Jake comforts Ziyal and suggests she do an art piece to bring people together. She then asks Kira and Sisko if she can do an art mural on the promenade to show togetherness and inclusivity on the station!
Kira takes Ziyal to Bajor for a religious festive and Jake goes with them to find “writing inspiration” THEY KISS UNDER THE COLOURFUL LIGHTS OF FIREWORKS!!!!
On their first date Garak and Kira spy on them to make sure it goes well and it allows Garak and Kira to bond over something and hate each other less!
Jake and Ziyal do art together all the time, they exchange books and go to art shows on the holo suite! They could even have an episode where they reenact Romeo and Julliet oh my god!!!!
Anyways then when Ziyal eventually dies in sacrifice of angels the emotions would just be so… oh my god. I can imagine Nog arriving back at the station and hugging Jake glad they are reunited and the first things he says is “where’s Ziyal?” And Jake just starts WEEPING into Nogs arms and when Nog realises she’s dead he starts crying too!
There would be a funeral service under her art mural and Jake would write a speech about what she stood for and what she represented for Bajor, the federation and Cardassia. About how she saw a world where everybody could come together in peace and harmony and how her memory should be honoured for it!
Man you could even have in the episode where Dukat and Sisko are trapped in the cave Dukat says “we were almost related by marriage you know? I would have liked to see that, Jake is a good boy and he would have made my daughter very happy” and Sisko agrees and says “we may not always get along but I would have gladly accepted you as apart of my family just to call her my daughter. She was an amazing young woman”
Ahhh oh my fucking god we were robbed, we were robbed, we were robbed!!!!
