“but why didn’t you go to the hospital?”

Yeah this is sinful as fuck.

You do not pay for sexual assault treatment.

What happened to you is not your fault and YOU DO NOT PAY FOR IT.

The Violence Against Women Act should pay for the majority of your treatment.

If you get a bill for your treatment TAKE IT BACK TO THE HOSPITAL, TO THE BILLING DEPARTMENT, AND ASK THEM HOW TO FILE A CLAIM.

Also:

In the event of a sexual assault the hospital should contact your local rape crisis center. An advocate will come to the hospital to help you through the process of collecting evidence and literally hold your hand through treatment. I’ve worked with lovely people from the Julie Valentine Center frequently. They’re amazing people.

They’ll also bring you clothes and basic toiletries. 

ASK THEM ABOUT ASSISTANCE. If you’re worried about miscellaneous costs of your treatment the Rape Crisis Advocate can help you find funds (Federal or donated) to help pay for it.
