Sometimes you see someone talking about canon divergence in transformative media as though there’s some inherent moral virtue in departing from canon, regardless of whether doing so actually serves what you’re trying to accomplish, and it becomes extremely evident that they saw somebody being a pretentious weenie about sticking to canon and decided that the antidote was to be an equally pretentious weenie about the exact opposite position.
