the thing is i think he did have a non traditional childhoodif we take pu'dar's statement that cardassians care for young and old alikeand can have five generations at the dinner tableas the normthen garak's experience of being the only child in a household with only his parents and 'uncle tain' sounds quite odd and lonelyespecially when we consider how much time he spent playing alone in tarlakand then he only spent three years at bamarren when most kids spend nine yearsand he went right into the order where he was basically forbidden to socializeall of that adds up to having quite a skewed idea of cardassian normswithout even mentioning all the emotional abuse and trauma from tainelim garaksorry for rambling about beta canon in the tags
