you would think it would be contradictory the amount of time julian spends talking himself up and bragging on his achievements versus the fact that every time he actually does have something to celebrate, like an award nomination or a birthday, he gets very upset and don’t-look-at-me and awkward, but like. the difference is when he’s bragging it’s HIM doing it. it’s okay if he draws attention to himself because he’s aware a bit that people find it annoying and aren’t especially paying attention to him; and at some point he learns how to make it a joke on purpose and use his own self-aggrandizement to cheer people up (haha there’s old julian again, going on about himself as usual; some things never change) whereas when other people draw attention to him it’s a completely different ballgame. if you look at me you might perceive me. mask of my own face and all that
