i mourn the limitations of 90s trek shows sfx. and yet, trek movie/show makers nowadays just don't get it! no, i never wanted shinier spaceships... if you let me remaster ds9, i would leave pretty much everything as it is, you see. however i would sink my hypothetical infinite budget into absolutely perfecting the minutiae of odo's movements - him walking, his gestures, etc. i want that man to properly look like slime, so he stretches ever so slightly whenever he strides and oozes slightly in slightly inhuman manners. and it will still look like shit. but by god, it'll be my fucking shit!

nobody asked - and honestly, they probably do go into more detail with this in the show. but besties i dont listen AND i'm only on s2 .... but like? okay the above might sound silly: after all, he can identically shapeshift into most objects, so why should he be a lil slimey when moving? WELL, my headcanon here is tht like... inanimate objects are one thing. but when he's humanoid he's actually moving about. and he's already said that he doesn't have, like, internal organs and bits- so exactly how is he moving about? i guess it just makes more sense to me if he... kind of isnt and if instead his movements are literally kinda like claymation, and he's shapeshifting every time he moves an arm or leg and in actuality in each instance he's like. a static frame of humanoid but he does it sooo fast and the differences arent as drastic as when we usually see him shift bc theyre just movements of the ssame frame ... and so thats why i think he should look goopy whenever he walks. just a lil goopy mind you. round the edges. like a flan, not rice pudding kinda goopy. 😁
