I find it so funny when people say “keep politics out of Star Trek” like yeah the most political show ever broadcast on syndicated television should stay out of politics, ok buddy.
Not only that but when Hollywood has tried very specifically to depoliticise Star Trek and make it more marketable to the general public people have been crying the hardest about politics in Star Trek.
If anything I think Nu Trek should be going HARD with the politics right now.
90% of Golden era Trek is just thinly veiled allegories for race, gender, religion, ideology, ethics, philosophy, sexuality, and justice. The writers legit looked at history books are were like “slap some prosthetics on that shit and the censorship board will be none the wiser” AND IT FUCKING WORKED!!!
