Another cool thing to see in other languages is how they type lols and hahas

For e.g. in Arabic hahahah is هههههههههههه
And laugh out loud is لول

. It literally has no meaning it’s just the pronunciation of lol in Arabic letters. لووووول = looool

In Japanese lol is like wwwwwww bc it stems from 笑う/ 笑い (warau/warai) which is like the verb to laugh/smile, which begins w a wa sound, so I’ve seen people use wwwwww and also just 笑 but now 笑 is seen as more sarcastic.

I’ve heard from my host sister that its also used bc it looks like a little upturned mouth. But I’ve never seen a keyboard smash in jp, mostly bc everything goes thru a sort of autocorrect to type kanji
