it took me 3 times reading this post to realized that (wild) meant living in the wild and wasn’t just a casual remark on the longevity of these organisms

You think that’s crazy? There is a species of jellyfish that is basically immortal.

Turritopsis dohrnii’s life cycle doesn’t end. It simply recedes back into a polyp stage then regrows into adult form again and again, effectively living forever.
