I’ve lived in the same house my entire life, and never before have I seen it raining ash from fires, I’ve never seen smoke from fires block out the sun. But it’s 2017 and everything is burning. The deck is dusted with ash and the sun is orange and barely filtering through the smoke. Family and friends on social media are all posting pictures of the ash, and the Pacific Northwest is basically a hellscape right now.
For those of you who don’t know, here’s what the PNW looks like right now:
that’s some Silent Hill shit, yo.
(movie version obvs)
Here’s what the sun looks like rn, everything is covered in a sickly orange barf glow, also I walked outside barefoot to take this and now the bottoms of my feet are covered in soot.
And you know, I’m not posting this to say that we have it worse than anyone else, just that it’s bizarre, and horrifying. So to the people closer to the fires, my heart goes out to you.
