And not in a fun way.
As some of you may know I was unemployed for a while, but just recently accepted a new position. It was a multi-level marketing position, meaning I was a salesman. I was told there was going to be a base pay, but found out after I started working that the “base pay” was actually an advancement. Imagine working 10 - 12 hour days where you would go home at the end of the day completely exhausted and literally bleeding in your shoes because uniform was business attire so you couldn’t wear shoes actually made for standing and walking for 10 - 12 hours and then have to pay back your salary if you didn’t sell anything. Not only that, I had to use my personal phone and data to work with no compensation. I had to drive all over the county to get to sales territories with no compensation. I had to give my coworkers who didn’t have vehicles rides with no compensation.
It was about when I found myself encouraged to mislead a customer about credit checks and equipment fees into a sale when I just fucking had it and quit this morning.
I am presently working on sorting things out with unemployment but until then, because it was a 100% commission job, I honestly don’t know if I’m going to be paid for the few sales I did make as I am no longer with the company and don’t know how the system is going to process my commission.
I need $475 by the end of the week to make insurance and rent.
