leather-gremlin:

Another thing thats been weighing on me in the wake of everything going on is how tolerant will any violent revolt be? If antifa and other leftist groups get serious about violent resistance then how long until its you’re with us or against us?

Che Guevara shot anyone who disagreed with him, usually about how many people he was shooting. The French resistance was rife with factions spending more time and energy fighting each other than doing any damage to the Nazis. Stalinists vs Leninist vs De Gaullists vs everyone else based on politics and petty power plays more concerned about who would be on top when the Nazis were defeated than freeing their country.

This can range from whistleblowing on supposed rivals because they aren’t the ‘right’ kind of activist to outright warring between groups. Anarchists bombing communists instead of doing any good. Power is intoxicating and once killing your enemy becomes the first tactic then its only a matter of time until nonviolent activists are enemies, different political groups are enemies and silencing opinions happens with murder.

None of the people talking about revolution I’ve seen have addressed this. People talking about lining up the bad guys against the wall don’t address how that definition can stretch and grow until anyone who disagrees with you goes up against the wall. The mix of power and righteousness is dangerous.
